The Littlest Rosebud

We have two of the tiniest rosebushes that I have ever seen.  Both are in bloom right now and have the prettiest pink rosebuds.  The roses are so small…well, they are doll size.  To get in the spirit of things Sugar (Fairyland’s Pukipuki) donned her pink dress with embroidered roses and is ready to show you one of our “doll size” rosebuds.

Pukipuki’s Spring Garden

Pukipuki my dear Puki,

How does your garden grow?

With gentle rain and golden sun,

She has blossoms all in a row.

Just in case it isn’t obvious yet, I LOVE flowers.  One of my favorite places to visit is the Chicago Botanic Gardens.  In fact, I wish that I lived across the street from the gardens.  I am sure that I would spend more time there than not.  I could see myself finding a bench (always in a different spot) and knitting and embroidering away the day.  Sigh…  It really is a beautiful place with so many different gardens.  If I tried, I could not pick out a favorite spot.  Sigh, again…  If you ever visit Chicago and love gardens you might want to add this to your “places to visit” list.

Soon our spring bulbs will start to bloom here in northern Illinois.  Pukipuki has gotten a head start on her gardens.  They are blooming along the hemline of her mint green and sky blue knit dresses.  Teeny tiny daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, and grape hyacinths are everlastingly in their glory on these dresses.

Sugar’s tiny pots of tulips were brought back from Amsterdam by my sweet husband.  Aren’t they cute?

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

No, I don’t have a speck of Irish heritage in me and I look awful in the color green, but I couldn’t help but get into the Irish spirit this year.  My Pukipuki, Sugar, is here to spread St. Paddy’s Day joy to you all.  By the way, I think she looks beautiful in the color green.

This past week I spent quite a bit of time learning some new techniques and discovering some new sites.  I practiced a new lace pattern, discovered Craftsy, listened to a new knitting podcast, and perused Ravelry and Pinterest for knitting inspiration.  As a result, I found this adorable Blythe hat pattern from Maggie at Parasol Doll and knit up my version for Pukipuki.  Thank you, Maggie.

Sugar wanted to wear her new outfit while looking for all things lucky and Irish.  My little charmer found her own lucky charm.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
