Patience Has Been Patient

My poor little Patience. She has been overlooked by my other girls for months now. However, she is now finally getting her chance to show you her new spring ensemble.

I asked her what her favorite part of her new ensemble is and she said it’s “all the roses”. Fair enough… this is an ensemble filled with rose motifs and rosy hues. There’s also a touch of the palest of blues in the dress print, which I love. I brought out more of that color with her ribbon tie, bow on her headband, braided basket handle, and in the cardigan’s embroidery.

Patience’s cardigan is knit out of lace weight merino/silk yarn in a rosy berry-ish color. It’s a little bluer than what appears on my screen. I embroidered rose motifs in coordinating colors on the yoke. She can wear it open or buttoned. The buttons are glass pearl beads in a cream color.

Patience’s rose print dress features a multitude of rosy hues with touches of pale blue. Around her waist is a rayon ribbon in blue. The full skirt has a tuck near the hemline– underneath the tuck is a row of delicate English cotton Cluny lace in a warm white color.

The pearl headband is crocheted with faux pearls in cream. It ties at the back, so is fully adjustable. A matching ribbon bow adds extra sweetness.

Patience has already picked a few blossoms for her crocheted flower basket. (They can be arranged and rearranged.) It is made with natural colored bamboo thread. The handle is braided with the bamboo thread and the blue ribbon.

Patience’s pretty bracelet is made with genuine freshwater pearls and garnet beads. The mother-of-pearl heart dangle shows Patience that this set was made with love, just for her.

Her rosy rayon knit tights complete her new spring look.

As you can see Patience is all ready for spring! We are starting to enjoy some warmer days mixed in with the yet cooler days. I am enjoying frequent walks to check on what is newly blooming. 💐 I don’t want to miss anything! I LOVE this time of year!

I hope you are enjoying spring (or autumn). Have a wonderful weekend (& Easter if you celebrate) wherever you call home. Sending hugs from my sewing room… and my sunny front porch. 🤗💖

Patience “Cute and Quirky for Winter”

Hello! I hope this post finds you happily enjoying the weekend. It is Saturday morning here and all is good.

Patience received a new holiday ensemble this year and she has been eagerly waiting to show it to you. She is also eagerly awaiting that first snowfall. Other than some very sparse flakes, that didn’t stick, we’ve not had any here in northern Illinois.

Patience’s cute snowman print dress features rows of colorful snowmen. This cotton print fabric by Lori Holt (Cozy Christmas, Riley Blake Designs) also came in a pink and blue background color way. I liked the sunny yellow. There are some sellers on etsy that have this print if you are interested.

Patience wanted black coal buttons for her “snowy” cardigan which is knit out of mohair/silk lace weight Aloft. She wanted to be like her little snowman. The coal buttons are actually black beads (I had exactly four!) that I found in my stash.

Patience’s three scarves are knitted four stitch i-cords decorated in a variety of ways. The green one reminds me of how our golden retrievers’ fur would get after walking in the snow. It was so silly to see balls of snow dangling and jiggling from their legs and chest. It never seemed to bother them at all.

This little snowman is needle felted with merino fiber. His features are sewn on with seed beads. His scarf matches one of Patience’s and is a 2-stitch i-cord. The earmuffs are made with purchased pom poms and a strand of wool yarn–all sewn on.

And, as you can see Patience is NOT letting him go! She can keep him forever and ever… he’ll never melt!

Do you have any snow yet? Like Patience I’m still waiting for that first magical snow.

Sending you warm December wishes. I’d love to hear what you’re up to this weekend!

Easter Bunny is Arriving Soon

Hello, my friends! It’s that time of year again when the Easter Bunny can be seen hopping around hiding colored eggs and sweet treats. I think I might has spotted a fluffy white tail in my yard. 😉 My girls in the sewing studio hope he doesn’t forget to stop on by and leave a little something for them.

In years past, he hasn’t forgotten them, so I think they will get a visit from him. Years ago, Gina got this adorable basket that was filled with the cutest sweets and toys.

Gina was thrilled with her Easter gift from the Easter Bunny.

Another year Amelia Thimble was gifted this fuzzy bunny that was as big as her! She still finds him very, very huggable to this day.

Then a couple of years later, Talyssa got ahold of Amelia’s bunny. I think little Miss Amelia was bit miffed, but she let Talyssa get in a few hugs before reclaiming him as her own. “You have two stuffed bunnies of your own, Miss Talyssa,” pouted Amelia.

I’ve had a bit of a slow week in the studio, but I managed to finish Patience’s ensemble and started looking for my next fabric inspiration. I have a VERY short YouTube video showing this past week’s work. I’m hoping next week is a little more fruitful.

Wishing you all a beautiful spring weekend! And a blessed Easter to those who observe this holiest of days. 💐
