Patience Wants to Show You Something

Patience wants to show you the new ensemble that I’ve made just for her, “Patience in Peach”.  These colors make me yearn for a juicy summer peach, a heaping bowl of peaches with cream or peach ice cream, yum.

Patience looks especially pretty in peachy pinks.  They bring out her warm hair and lip color; these are her colors, I’d say.

Patience’s cropped cardigan is hand knit with lace weight merino wool.  I’ve embroidered a pair of mirrored image rose motifs along the center front neckline in peachy pinks, deep warm rose, salmon, and the perfect shade of green to bring it all together.  Off white glass pearl bead buttons add the finishing touch.

I was inspired by the shapes of these Victorian crocheted bags (aren’t they pretty?), so I made a tiny one for Patience.  Her little flower bouquet sits perfectly inside.

These bows are made from rayon ribbon that I hand dyed.  I know some of you were wondering about dyeing fabrics, yarn, and ribbon.  The next time I do some dyeing I will take more photos for a post.

“Pastel Sweetie” for Penny

My new Penny by Linda Macario has her very own mohair/silk cardigan…finally.  This sweater pattern took me four tries to get it just right.

I finished her little dress in December.  I thought that the dress pattern would take a few tries, but I got lucky.  Her fingers are spread open with skinny upper arms.  I was thinking big armholes to get those hands through… not so attractive.  I thought it would be a challenge, but like I said, I got lucky.

I also wanted the bodice short so as not to look long waisted as she has shorter legs (so, shorter skirt).  I think I got the proportions right.  She told me, “I feel pretty.”

I enjoy dressing a new doll.  I find the challenges of a new body style fun to conquer.  Penny probably has the most unique body to date in my collection, but she is precious.

As with most of my dolls lately, Penny has picked a few blossoms for her basket and to give to you.  What a sweetheart!

I made Penny’s little crocheted centifolia (cabbage) rose with a tie so she could wear it on her cap or in her hair.

And, once again, here is Penny in her other wigs.  If you missed the posts about her wigs they are here and here.

Does Pink Make You Happy?

While trying to come up with a name for this next ensemble, I kept on thinking how happy all of this pink made me feel; hence, the name was born.  Does pink make you happy too?

There are some strong opinions out there about pink.  It seems that you either love it or hate it.  When my daughter was in grade school I spent about 6 years as a volunteer art teacher for the first graders.  I heard many stories from the little ones about how their moms either loved pink or hated it.  If their moms hated pink, not a speck of pink could be used for their project.  It made me smile to hear such strong convictions about the color pink coming from these little ones.

I love pink!  I especially love pink for our dolls, and I love to wear pink in all shades.  I think I have more pink fabric than any other color.

Here is my Little Darling, Lucy, modeling “Pink Happiness”.  I hope you feel happy too, looking at my smiley faced Lucy in her new pink ensemble.

There are very light sky blue flowers in this print.  If you look closely you can pick them out, the camera didn’t catch them very well.
