“Pink and Plummy”

Hello everyone.  Let’s get on with my July fashion show.

The ensembles are starting to feel a tad fall-ish now.  Yes, I know it’s still the middle of summer, but I felt like working ahead, so why not.  (I almost made a Christmas in July set, but I held back, lol.)

Today, it’s sweet Patience’s turn to model her new ensemble for you.

Patience’s dress is made from a Japanese cotton print in a colorful, but muted palette.  The tiny pink and violet blossoms look like they were executed in watercolor, so pretty.  The greenery is depicted with charcoal grey, and the background is ecru or beige.  My darkest ecru lace (English cotton Cluny) worked perfectly on this print.  It decorates the skirt underneath a tuck.  A muted raspberry rayon ribbon ties around the waistline.

Patience’s cardigan is knit with heathered plum lace weight merino wool.  I can’t seem to get enough of heathered yarn; I find all the subtle color differences in one strand quite irresistible.  Hand embroidery around the neckline coordinates with the dress.  The cardi can be worn buttoned or unbuttoned.

Patience’s is wearing a crocheted pearl headband and holding a crocheted basket with bouquet.  Both are made with natural colored bamboo thread.  The tiny bouquet sits in the basket, and can be removed.  The stems are wound with a bit of bamboo thread.

Patience’s other accessories include a bracelet and tights.

I’ll see you tomorrow.  It will be either Lucy or Patsy’s turn to model their new ensembles.  Hmm, wonder who . . .

Have a beautiful day, my friends!

“Princess in Peach”

Today Alice would like to model her new July ensemble for you.  Alice’s best colors are peaches and pinks, so whenever I pull a fabric with those warm and rosy colors, Alice gets to try the fabric first.

When Alice put on her new ensemble, I thought she looked like a princess.

This peach rose cotton fabric has very faint ivory dots, so I chose to highlight those with trims, pearls, and accessories.  The lace on the skirt is brand new to me.  It is a very delicate English cotton Cluny lace, and wider than what I usually use.  The nylon English Cluny lace I’ve used for the sash is more durable for tying in a bow.

Alice’s cardigan is hand knit with salmon colored bamboo thread.  Pastel shaded bullion stitch rose are embroidered along the neckline.  I added pops of bright rosebuds and light colonial knots to help the roses stand out.  A panel of lace knitting decorates the center of each sleeve.  The cardigan can be worn unbuttoned or buttoned.

I think Alice’s crocheted pearl headband adds to her princess-ness.  After I tied on the headband, I took her front chunks of hair, brought them to the back, twisted them, then brought them underneath the rest of her wig, then added a clear elastic to hold in place.  I find mohair easy to work with; it’s not slipper at all.  BTW, this wig is a Kemper Raven Blonde wig.

Alice hopes you’ve enjoyed her little fashion show.  Thanks for stopping by, friends.  Wishing you a great day!

“Summer Sweetheart”

My end-of-July fashion show continues with my Kaye Wiggs MSD sized BJD, Gracie.

I know I’ve shown you little peeks at this set in progress, but it is all finished now.  Yay!  Would you like to see it?  Well, Gracie would love to show you her new ensemble; she is quite excited as she has been waiting for her special day for weeks.

Gracie is wearing a summery dress made out of a tiny Japanese cotton print.  This floral print features blossoms in rubine red, deep pink, pastel pink, golden yellow, and grass green.  White cotton tassel-like English Cluny lace decorates the skirt.  Around her waist, a vintage green satin ribbon sash ties in a bow in the back.  Her dress features a wider neckline and waistline darts for shaping.

In case it turns cool, Gracie has a deep pink hand knit cardigan to throw over her shoulders.  It has short sleeves, clear glass iridescent bead buttons, and coordinating hand embroidery on the front.  The embroidery is done freehand with no patterns, and is a one-of-a-kind composition.

Gracie has a pair of (mirrored design) floral hair ties that will work with all different hairstyles.  The blossoms are crocheted, the leaves are knitted, and the blossom’s centers are faceted glass iridescent beads.  Each ties around a section of hair with the attached crocheted ties which have beaded ends.

A crocheted mesh drawstring purse holds a white hanky (handmade from white cotton lawn with fringed edges) folded into triangles and a pink comb (from stash).  There is even more room in Gracie’s purse for another tiny treasure that you may have for her, or  perhaps one that she finds for herself.  I decorated the bottom with a pink blossom bead and a center bead that matches those used for the hair ties.

Gracie’s other accessories include white cotton Lycra® anklets, panties (with bow), and a bracelet.
