She’s in “Lilac and Lovely”

I really felt like making something with lilac fabric and I discovered that I don’t have much in this colorway.  I have lots of plum, but not very much lilac.  Hmm, not sure why, it’s a favorite color of mine.  I’ve got to work on that!

I found this lilac pin dot in my stash which was a part of the collection with my vintage pillowcase-like rose prints.  Here is what I made with it a couple of years ago; I just used it as an accent.  I decided to use it for the entire dress this time, so I could use lots of crisp white as the accent instead of ivory which was the rose print’s background color.  I do love how delicate it looks with white, don’t you?

Having the perfect white French lace (Thank you, M.! ❤ ) and white lace fabric for the tights helps this ensemble look even more delicate.

I used my pure white mohair/silk lace yarn to knit Patience’s sweater.  I have two white lots of this yarn.  One is pure white and the other slightly warm.  They are the same item, but ordered at different times; funny how two lots can be so different, but I am happy to have them both.  Shades of purples and pinks are used for the sweater’s embroidery.

A crocheted pearl headband with a hand made bow, lilac flower bouquet, and lilac bracelet complete Patience’s new look.

I hope you all are enjoying the day today.  I sure am, and am still flabbergasted that it is still only February.  My crocuses have started blooming; they usually bloom in April around here!  Craziness!

Thanks so much for visiting today!

“Glorious Autumn”

The air is cool and crisp—trees are sparse with golden, bronze, and orange leaves—a smokiness fills the air.  It could only be mid autumn!

Our slow and glorious autumn continues here in the midwest.  There are still two red rosebuds on my rosebushes and the lobelias are still blooming in blue.  The few light frosts we’ve had so far didn’t reach these.

I made four sample dresses while putting together my last knitting pattern for Amelia Thimble’s sweater dress.  I wasn’t planning on embroidering these four dresses yet, but dear Amelia had other plans.  “Pretty please, just one!”, she said.  So yes, I gave in and completed one for her.  I must say I am glad I did as her sweet face makes me happy.

And, because it gave me a reason to get outside on this glorious fall day, even if only for a little bit.

New Knitting Pattern For Amelia Thimble

Your Amelia Thimble, and her friend Izzy, can now have all the dresses their little hearts’ desire.  My knitting pattern for their a-line and party dress is now available on my website.  Even if you don’t have these dolls these dresses make the cutest ornaments, miniatures, room box decorations, or simply hang them on branches in a vase.  Let your imagination go wild!  But be forewarned, they are addictive!  For inspiration, here is the link to Amelia Thimble’s album on Flickr.

You’ll only need small bits of lace weight yarn to make these teeny tiny dresses.  You can embellish them with embroidery, lace, ribbons.  Have fun!  Once you get going on them you can probably get all of your hand made gifts made in no time.
