Wow, wow, wow it’s July! How did that happen? Sometimes All the time I wish the summer months would go by at half speed, however they seem to pick up speed with each passing year.
June, here in northern Illinois, has been lovely. For once, no weather complaints from me. I’ve been going for walks almost daily and my body and soul like it a lot. That hour or so spent outside moving from one place to another is a meditation of sorts. It stops me from “doing” and opens my mind to creative thinking and praying. If my mind goes to a place of worry I immediately call it back to a positive and peaceful place.
Our feral kitties have been enjoying the beautiful weather and stick around all day long. The tabby, whom has been around since we moved into our house 9 years ago, has recently been joined by Morris, Orange-y, or Lion Kitty; he goes by all three names. He is very sweet, and unlike Miss Kitty, will not bat our hands (with claws outstretched). She can be quite impatient when we are giving her a snack. Naughty girl!
This past week most of my creative time has been spent knitting. Right now, I have three sweaters off the needles, and only one dress sewn. Last night, before heading off to bed, I stopped in my sewing room and planned three more sweaters! I am in the knitting zone, I guess. Hopefully, when I have finished knitting all these sweaters I can move into the sewing zone and make the dresses to be worn with all these little cardigans.
I hope you all are enjoying the start of July. Maybe yours will go a little bit slower than mine mostly likely will. If you have any secrets to slow it down, please let me know.
Bye for now, my friends. Thanks for stopping by today.
❤
Lovely! Thank you for sharing this beauty
Hello Cindy. July in Tamworth Australia where I live is in the depths of winter and very cold. My partner and I have become Grey Nomads and in our caravan we have headed north to the warmer weather. We are now 2500klm (1600 miles) from home and soaking up the warmth. We will be away until the end of August. I have packed enough wool to keep me occupied when relaxing. There is lots to do and see on our travels. Take care.
Hi, Wendy! Boy, you’ve traveled a long distance! I understand wanting to escape the cold. As we get older, the cold termperatures seem harder to bear. You and your husband have it figured out perfectly though, and you get an adventure each year too.
I’m glad you’ve brought enough knitting supplies with you to keep busy. Do you bring your sewing machine too? I think I would need to find a space for that somewhere.
Wishing you continued safe travels. ❤
You are welcome, Orly. I’m glad you enjoyed my post. Hope you are having a great day! ❤
Your walks sound a lot more fun than ours. Mandatory 1 mile up and down the hills daily and come home exhausted. but, gotta do it! Your lovely green northern Illinois is spectacular.
Definitely Morris. Such an adorable kitty. Glad he has decided you are his caretaker. Hey, free food!! Both are such beauties. We’re still having fun with our neighbors cats. They have homes, but are here when their folks are away.
Nothing big planned for the holiday. Will watch fireworks in the distance from the deck. That is if I can stay awake. 🙂 Have a wonderful 4th!
Hi, Joy! I love going up hills, but hate coming down. Going downhill seems to put too much pressure on my knees. However, if you go up, you must come down. Maybe I should try going down hill backwards or sideways. lol Nothing planned here either, for the fourth. Maybe fireworks, maybe not. We have to drive into town to see them. Even though we aren’t far from town, the trees get in the way. Have a great holiday, no matter what you decide to do!
To slow time no magic formula. I just try to enjoy each minute as most as possible.
Excellent idea! Being more mindful is something I want to be better at. It sounds simple enough, but really hard (for me) to do. Have a great day! ❤
Hi Cindy. No I haven’t put a sewing machine in, have thought about it though. Actually I am looking for a travel version, very hard to find. We will be spending 3 weeks in Cairns from next week. It is a very big city so I will have a look about while I am there. I have friends who live in Cairns and they may be able to steer me in the right direction. I am also hoping to find some good craft shops to. Have a good day.😚
Hi Cindy , happy 4th of July to you🇺🇸🎆 for someone who is nearly in the mid-40s I know the years are starting to go by faster and faster I love that you can make yourself go from worry to positivity so fast. It’s good that you are in a knitting mood I can see some cute outfits coming up in the near future! I wish I had secrets to make July slow down I guess we just need to cherish each day as it comes and see if that works. Are you going to see some fireworks tonight? We are going with the kids. Whatever you do enjoy your evening and night, hugs to you Cindy, love, Terri xoxo
Hi Terri. There’s something about walking outside in nature that seems to be healing for me. I’m not saying it’s 100%, but it helps. Yes, cherish each day, and be mindful of its events, a great mantra. However, it is so easy to get caught up in what is going on in my head. It’s forever a struggle for me… I’m trying.
We DID go see the fireworks last night. After years of fireworks looking pretty much the same, I noticed quite a few new ones in the sky last night. The one that I particularly noticed became a huge ball of white glitter, very high wow factor on that one. And, the finale is always breathtaking. We bring a couple of throws, our puppy, and stay nice and cozy (mosquito free) in the car. I hope you and your family had a great fourth.
So strange, today feels like Monday. Enjoy the rest of the week!
