Welcome Fall

welcome fall 970Hello to all and a big welcome to fall to those of us in the northern hemisphere.  Not sure how I feel about fall arriving, to be honest.  It feels too soon.  With the exception of a couple of cooler mornings it still feels quite summery around here–hot and humid and sticky.

We’ve had tons of rain too.  Mushrooms!  I find them so interesting, for some strange reason.  And when I see them I must take their picture. 🙂

My last two ensembles were traveling to their new homes last week.  I hope they look beautiful on the little girls who have received them.  My Gina and Alice hope so!

My daughter (her to study) and I spent last Friday afternoon at the local coffee shop.  I was having a hard time getting excited about weaving in ends and sewing on buttons at home.  A yummy cup of cappuccino, warm sunlight, and a change of scenery did the trick.  A couple of hours here and my chores were done.

I hope you all have a lovely first week of this new season (autumn or spring)!  Thank you for visiting with me!  Sending you a hug from Illinois!

What I’m Working On…

Hi, my friends!  I wanted to pop in quickly and show you what I’ve been working on.  I have been knitting…

I am working on a pattern expansion for Amelia Thimble’s sweater dress pattern here.  This will not be a full pattern (you will need the original to complete the dress); the expansion will contain additional instructions to make a longer, fuller skirt with a ruffle at the hemline.  I’ve seen independent sewing pattern companies offer expansion packs with their sewing patterns and I think it’s a great idea.  It will be one to two weeks before this pattern expansion is ready.  I still need to write out the mini pattern and then test it.

Here is a photo from the first sweater dress I made using this idea.  These skirts are actually how I first started knitting sweater dresses for Amelia Thimble back in 2012.  I made a few changes for this 2019 version.  Here is Amelia Thimble doing a little fall clean up.  She is such a helpful little doll, isn’t she? 😉  BTW, Amelia Thimble’s pumpkin hat was made using Amelia Thimble’s Hat Set pattern.

I’ve been knitting a sweater dress for the Little Darlings.  I was inspired by this striped sweater and reworked my Little Darling sweater dress pattern to include some colorful stripes.  I also changed the garter edgings to ribbed edgings.

So, that’s what I’ve been doing over the past few days.  What have you been working on?

“Folksy for Fall”

Happy Sunday to you from soggy northern Illinois.  We had rain again last night, or I should say early morning.  My weather wishes–I hope the clouds clear and we have some sunshine later.  Yesterday was a perfect day:  fluffy clouds, blue sky, light breeze, perfectly warm.  My husband and I took an afternoon walk through the neighborhood.  We enjoyed the day immensely, and by the amount of cars outside everyone else seemed to also. 😮 !

This morning I want to show you the second ensemble I have completed for the Little Darlings.  This time Gina, my first Little Darling and painted by Geri Uribe in 2012, is modeling for you.  Such a cutie pie she is!

There will be more information and photos detailing this ensemble on the sales page (to find it, the name of this ensemble will highlight under the ‘Available’ tab) at 1:00 pm, CST today (September 15, 2019).  If you have a U.S. address and would then like to purchase “Folksy for Fall” please fill out the contact form under the ‘contact’ tab and submit it to me.  This is a one-of-a-kind ensemble.

Just for fun, here is a photo from when I previously used this fabric print for Kish Bethany… way back in 2012.  Isn’t she sweet!
