Hello to you from rainy, rainy, rainy! northern Illinois. The rain has been coming down since last night. It’s still warm at the moment, but we are in for a big change later on today. So the rain will stop, but then it will get cold! Cold like we haven’t seen for many months. Not ready! This temperature drop will seem like a slap in the face. OW!
These past couple of weeks have been beautiful though. I’ve been getting outside most days for walks in the sunshine and to simply enjoy nature. We have quite a few forest preserves around here and also some quiet roads. Last weekend I visited one of the nearby forest preserves.
At one point on the trail it was an open expanse as far as the eye could see.
The colors of fall are showing up in the plants, but not yet the trees (except here and there).
When I have portable work and don’t feel like staying at home to do it I like to visit nearby coffee shops; this one is so cute. It has 5 rooms with tables and chairs in each. I think I previously showed you a photo when my daughter and I spent a Friday afternoon here. My favorite room is this south facing room with these big windows.
Here is a look into the main room while I was working on my knitting.
And here is another room off of the room I was in. The doorway to the left shows a room for the little ones. There are lots of toys in there. I’ve never seen any children using it; perhaps they are here at different times.
The dress I was knitting while at the coffee shop is now completed: knit, blocked, buttons added…
… and Gina modeling it. Here’s a sneak peak from my sewing room this morning. I want to add a little more embroidery (it’s at the hemline) and a pretty red ribbon around the waist. I have the perfect little accessory for her to hold; I’ll show you later. Both girls still need tights and I want to come up with an accessory for Alice. So, these two ensembles are almost completed.
Now, I must go get some rest. I’ve been fighting a cold all week (my husband brought one home from traveling over a week ago!). I thought I had succeeded in not catching it, but no. Today I know I am definitely sick. At least the weather matches my symptoms!
I hope you are well and enjoying beautiful weather where you are. Thank you for stopping by, my friends. ❤
Cindy, do take care of yourself.. I love the sweater dresses. Do you use mohair and double it when knitting?
Judi
Thank you, Judi. I’m feeling much better this morning. I substitute two strands of lace weight yarn to make a fingering weight. For the patterns that specify lace weight, no need to double, but the patterns that use fingering I double the lace weight yarn. Enjoy your Saturday. ❤
Well here in northern ca we are still without power. Went off early Tuesday morning and latest update won’t be until 6:00 this evening. Even with ice we had to dump every thing in the freezer this morning. Crazy pge cutting power to so many when there was no wind. We never lost power during the big fires two years ago but now off it goes every time you blink.
Your dresses for the lds are adorable. Have to look at them again when the power people get around doing their jobs.
Hope your cold is brief and there are some sunny days.
Hi, Joy. That is a long time to be without power. Was there a reason? I do hope it went back on last night, although you are probably figuring out how to live without it by now. Eeek!
Food is so expensive–sorry you had to throw it all out.
Feeling much better this morning. Yesterday was the ‘bad’ day.
I hope you have a power-filled and comfortable weekend. Thanks, Joy. ❤
Another beautiful creation by Cindy. I admire your skills Cindy. Best to You!
Thanks so much, Mavis. ❤
Bon dimanche.
Bonjour Marie Paule. Je me sens beaucoup mieux, merci. ❤

Hello Marie Paule. I am feeling much better, thank you. Yes, I was able to enjoy some beautiful autumn weather before it rained. Today it is cloudy, but tomorrow will be sunny again. Anyway, that is what the weather forecaster says. I feel lucky to have a cozy spot to visit when I want to do some knitting or sewing, but want to get out of the house. I hope you have had a wonderful weekend. Thank you for writing. ❤
These outfits will be beautiful as usual when completed. I love the idea of going out to knit.
Take care.
Hello. Thank you. I hope you can maybe find a nice spot too. ❤
I feel your pain on the weather Cindy, you know that already though !! They are beautiful photos from the park preserve. I am glad you got to visit the coffee shop again to do some of your work. It is a lovely relaxing place I see with its different rooms. Aww the sneak peek of the dress is gorgeous on Gina! It will be nice and warm for winter. Alice looks great too. looking forward to the completed look! They will appreciate a pair of tights each. I hope your cold is subsiding and you are getting rest. I am doing well, the temps of 36 and snow were not nice yesterday , the snow didn’t really stick though but seeing it falling on October 12 …ahhh ! Happy Sunday Cindy, Terri xo.
Hi, Terri. Still cannot get over the fact that you’ve had snow already. I hope it is not telling us that winter will be here early. I’m still thinking it is summer… ha!
I was able to get a little work done on the girls’ ensembles yesterday, but still have more to do. They take a bit of time and thought to get everything just right.
I am feeling so much better, thank you. I am very grateful my immune system is working well again. I only had one ‘feel bad’ day. ❤
Yes, the snow didn’t stick Cindy but it was cold enough for it! We are supposed to warm back up this week. I can imagine the dresses do take time and I know there is a lot of love that you put into them too. Glad you are on the mend, and that the immune system is good. Happy Monday, Terri xo.
