A Hand-Me-Down for Holly

Who says hand-me-downs are unwelcome? Holly (Ruby Red Fashion Friend Stella) says, “I love hand-me-downs! My Kish Chrysalis 14” girls have been retired for some time now. I really only have a Piper left and she is enjoying a rest inside her doll box.

Even though I am no longer making anything for these dolls I still have a box filled with their clothing–not sure what to do with it all… Anyway, I was going through it and found a Halloween dress I made probably in 2009. I pulled it out and thought to myself how I always thought this was cute, but it was always a bit too roomy for the Chrysalis girls. I didn’t have a doll who could wear it well. In case you are wondering the pattern used for this dress is by MHD Designs for the 14″ Kish Chrysalis dolls. It is called Simplicite

While contemplating this, I could sense a bit of excitement on the doll shelf behind me. I turned around and Bella and Holly were trying to get my attention. They wanted to try it on. Well, why not! I let Holly try it on first. It was so cute on her and fit her perfectly. She convinced me it was simply ‘made for her’, so according to Holly, Bella didn’t need to try it on. I decided to let her wear it… this year anyway.

Also in the box, I found the crocheted capelet I had made and that fit her perfectly too. With pockets full of lollipops, a few Halloween accessories, a black hair ribbon, cotton rib tights, and black leather Mary Jane shoes Holly is ready for trick-or-treaters.

Riley and Tulah came out for Halloween too. The crochet ensembles they are wearing are probably about 15 years old! Time flies! Anyway, they are the Boo Crew this year.👻

Love your Boo Crew! The Kish friends here are waving and very jealous that they do not have costumes. 🙂 I was aware that the Kish 14″ girls shoes also fit the RRFF girls, but didn’t know about the outfits. Good to know.
We were in the low 30’s last night. Way too cold for me and wind picking up for tomorrow and back to fire danger. Can’t get away from it.

Hi, Joy. Thank you! My two little Kishes are over the moon to be dressed for 2023 Halloween. It doesn’t happen all that often for these two.
I’m not sure if the RRFF & 14″ Kish clothing would all be interchangeable. It probably depends on how fitted the 14″ clothing is. Good to know about the shoes. I have a ton of Kish Chrysalis shoes. Thank you!
I didn’t know you got so cold where you live. We’ve had one light frost which didn’t kill the flowers. They are all still growing, but don’t look all that pretty. It is only a matter of days though, before they are gone. I cannot remember a year when they have held on so long. Today is quite chilly–winter coat chilly.
I hope the fires don’t start up again. You all deserve a break!

Such cute outfits, Cindy! I love that black lace capelet! It just pops over the ghost and pumpkins print! All your designs are so timeless!

Thank you, Linda. ❤️ It was fun rediscovering it in a box I haven’t gone through in a long time. I hope you are having a nice autumn weekend. It’s finally getting very cool, almost cold, here in northern IL.

Cindy, I would love to buy this outfit for my 14” Kish Chrysalis Girls and I wish you would consider sewing for these dolls once again!♥️

Hi, Carol. ❤️ Thank you for letting me know. I will keep that in mind. I think I fell so in love with Bethany and stopped making things for the 14″ dolls. It seemed everything I put on her looked really cute. Gosh, I wish I had more time… I still love Bethany.
However, now I am wondering if the Ruby Red Fashion Friends ensembles fit the Chrysalis dolls too. I’ll have to try some on them on my last remaining 14″.
