A Sunny Day

Well, I’m calling it a sunny day because the sun was out for about an hour this afternoon. It has been such a cloudy winter that one hour of sun cannot go unnoticed, can it? I was sitting in my studio finishing up a cardigan for Talyssa when the latent sun made it’s fleeting appearance.

Anyway, cloudy days are a good thing since Groundhog Day is 8 days away. Besides, I don’t think there have been many days in either December or January that the groundhog would have seen his shadow here in northern Illinois. Will spring be early or has winter not really started yet?

I’m counting on an early spring…a very early spring! How about you?

Here is Amelia Thimble modeling her “sunny” yellow dress/hat set which is just perfect for today’s bit of sun. The knit dress has an embroidered wreath of roses encircling the dropped waistline and her crocheted hat keeps the sun out of her eyes.

Amelia is making friends with one of the stuffed “studio” bunnies. Maybe she’s hoping that this one is the Easter Bunny.

A Bit of Spring Dreaming is Going On Here

All it takes is an above freezing day or two in January to get me thinking (and dreaming) of spring. Oh, how I love spring with the scent of blossoms in the air, buds on the trees, new colors and tiny plants appearing daily!

Sigh…I know…this wonderfulness is a way off yet. Still I dream, of spring.

…from dear, sweet, Patience.

It’s been a while since my Patience has been featured in a post and I was starting to feel bad. Am I a bad doll mom? Maybe…ugh…okay, okay, no more guilt.

Here she is…

…in all of her whimsical cuteness!

I think this ensemble matches Patience’s personality perfectly, don’t you? The sunny and warm cotton print features lots and lots of different heart motifs and little lovey dovey birdies, such fun to look at, if you can take your eyes off of her cute face, that is.

Patience’s dress looks pretty without the cardigan too.

You won’t see too many of my crocheted pieces with embroidery. For me, embroidering on crochet is touch and go because the crocheted fabric is “bumpy” and it’s hard to get the stitches to lay on top of the fabric. However, when the pieces work out, like this headband, I really like the look.
