Holly is Feeling Oh So Lovely

Hi there from bitterly cold northern Illinois. However, I am cozy inside with a fire going in our fireplace. The Olympics are on and I have a snoring chihuahua wrapped up in a blanket next to me. Life is good!

Holly and I had a little photo shoot yesterday afternoon. (The lighting wasn’t great, but either I am busy or it is cloudy; I got tired of waiting for the perfect time.) Anyway, I think you’ll get the idea.

Holly is dressed and ready for Valentine’s Day 2022. Holly’s dress is made out of a peach striped cotton fabric which is sprinkled with red and yellow roses. Her red wool cardigan is keeping her cozy and warm and is embroidered in colors to coordinate with her dress.

Holly has been busy addressing valentines to her doll room friends. She loves the vintage ones the best. Even though she is the ‘new doll’ everyone in the doll room loves her very much. She is happy to have had such a warm welcome when she arrived on Christmas Day.

What is happening by you this weekend? I hope the rest of your weekend is perfect in every way! Enjoy! Sending you virtual hugs from all of us in the doll room! 🤗

Hello and Brrr!

Hello from “Winter Wonder Land”. Winter weather in northern Illinois has finally caught up with the season we are currently living in. It is COLD and our landscape is covered in piles of frosty white. It’s taken this long for it to finally feel like winter, which is when I start dreaming of… yes, spring!

Last week was filled with lots of knitting and no finished projects to show you yet. However, I still managed to make a short YouTube video showing my work for the week.

This week I am working on embroidery for the two doll cardigans I was knitting last week. I have also just published a free pattern on Ravelry for one-piece knit hearts. The pattern is written for fingering weight yarn, but is easily adaptable for any weight yarn with appropriate needles. This handful of hearts was made with fingering, sport, DK, worsted, chunky, chunky/fingering, fingering/lace mohair. The width is easily changed too. It’s all in my video and pattern.

A few of these hearts were made years ago as sachets, but the lavender smell is long gone. I was thinking of stringing all of together them and turning the lot into a garland. What do you think? Do you have any ideas?

The pattern and be found here. And the accompanying YouTube video is below. Enjoy!

I hope you are having a great week! Hugs from here! 🤗 Take care my friends. ❤️

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you, my love-ly friends!  Do you have any special plans for today?  I’m afraid it’s work as usual over here, but that is fine with me as the sun is shining.  Yay!

Happy Valentine's Day collage2

The collage above is from 2014.  Thought you might like to see it again, or for the first time.  I was sure busy making Valentine’s Day dresses back then, wasn’t I?

What have I been working on lately?  Well, my cowl is nearly complete.  It would be complete right now if I wanted to make it per the pattern, but I’d like it a little longer, so am going to use up as much of the 100 grams of yarn I can.

I finished my second pair of socks.  They’ve been soaked in lavender wash and blocked,  and awaiting for their recipient to come home for spring break.

I’ve also been working on a new knitting pattern on and off for a couple of weeks.  To say that the math was blowing my mind is putting it lightly, and really, I realize it shouldn’t have been that hard.  Notice all the graph paper; things got a lot easier when I started using that.  (Thank goodness I found some in the house.)

I completed a Little Darling ensemble yesterday!  Lucy is wearing it and oh, so happy.  I just got finished with the photo shoot and still have to edit the photos.  Here’s a sneak peek of Lucy while she was waiting (patiently) for me to set things up for the photo shoot.
