Does Pink Make You Happy?

While trying to come up with a name for this next ensemble, I kept on thinking how happy all of this pink made me feel; hence, the name was born. Does pink make you happy too?

There are some strong opinions out there about pink. It seems that you either love it or hate it. When my daughter was in grade school I spent about 6 years as a volunteer art teacher for the first graders. I heard many stories from the little ones about how their moms either loved pink or hated it. If their moms hated pink, not a speck of pink could be used for their project. It made me smile to hear such strong convictions about the color pink coming from these little ones.

I love pink! I especially love pink for our dolls, and I love to wear pink in all shades. I think I have more pink fabric than any other color.

There are very light sky blue flowers in this print. If you look closely you can pick them out, the camera didn’t catch them very well.

The Week So Far

Here in northern Illinois we’ve had a rather warm week, until today… it’s sooo blustery, which makes it seem sooo COLD. My cold tolerance is pretty low right now, so I’ve been wearing my knee length down coat today. We’re expecting our first snowfall late Friday into Saturday. It seems too soon, but it really isn’t.

Today, even though it was blustery and cold, the sun shone brightly. I walked outside with my camera to photograph possibly one of our last “green grass” days for awhile.

These leaves were REALLY blowing when I snapped this photo.

The pachysandra still looks pretty; it stays green, but is covered with snow most of the winter.

Other news, my new Little Darling painted by Helen Skinner arrived on Monday! Ohhh, happy day!!! I waited approximately 30 seconds to open her. Ha ha, such discipline.

I asked my daughter to name her for me, and she picked Lucy. I do like the wig she arrived in, but for fun I tried lots of wigs on her and I like her best as a redhead. Did you ever notice how, even though we can change our dolls wigs, there seems to be a hair color that suits them the best? For Lucy it is auburn or carrot; Gina looks best as a brunette. Lucy is my second Little Darling and is the #3 sculpt. I love how she always seems so happy. It sounds silly, but seeing that smiling face makes me happier. Helen did a phenomenal job bringing her to life. I also really like the new arms on the Little Darlings; Lucy holds onto things such as dolls and stuffed animals very easily, too cute.

Here is a quick photo of what I was working on today. Lucy will be modeling this sweater dress for you all very soon. She can’t wait!

Some Things from This Week

This morning I made the last piece to go with Patsy’s Christmas ensemble, the tights. I don’t know why, but they are always the last thing I make. We even had time for our photo shoot! Afterwards, she wanted to go up on the shelf to visit with the other three girls who are all dressed up in their Christmas dresses. They look so cute together in a group, don’t they? This is the largest this group of models will get before the Christmas ensembles start going into new closets to dress other little girls for the holidays. (I always take the photos of the ensembles without their sweaters on last, so that is why no one is wearing one, just in case you were wondering where the sweaters had gone off to.)

I managed to find the bright red organza ribbon at Hobby Lobby to accent the waistline of Patsy’s dress. While I was there, I (of course) browsed the entire store. They had their Czech glass beads on sale and these little mixed packs of flowers and hearts looked too colorful to pass up, I bought two packs.

It was fun going through the pretty little baubles. I keep my hearts separate from my other beads since I use one with every ensemble, so I separated those out to be put with my other hearts. These are all my new hearts!

One of these hearts was used for Patsy’s bracelet in her new ensemble. Hmm, wonder which one… can you guess? Hint, there’s only one of them.

It was my husband’s birthday on Wednesday, so happy 29th birthday to him…

… just kidding, he’s really not 29, although he wishes he were 29 again! I picked up a pizza, lasagna, and spaghetti/meatballs from a favorite carry out spot for dinner. I know, too much food! I made a chocolate chip cake (from scratch) for his birthday cake. I barely had enough frosting; it wasn’t the best choice to make only a half of a recipe, but it was plenty sweet enough in my opinion.The little beggar is in his favorite spot. Nope, he didn’t get a crumb of cake, although he got a few bits of pizza crust.
