“Pastels in the Garden”

My Linda Macario’s Penny is excited and thrilled to show you her new springtime sweater dress.  We had a very quick outdoor photo shoot yesterday.  I had on my long down coat, but poor Penny was quite cold.  Ah, a career in modeling can be quite uncomfortable.  Anyway, Penny is fine today; she didn’t catch a cold, so all is good.

Our lilac phlox is blooming.  It is so pretty!

For Penny’s first bamboo sweater dress I tried to mimic the colors and embroidery pattern of “My Favorite Roses” which I just finished for the Little Darlings.  I do love pastels… A LOT!  Since Penny is quite a bit smaller than the Little Darlings the knitting of this dress was much quicker, so Penny should be the lucky recipient of many more bamboo sweater dresses.  She hopes so anyway!

Once we got inside Penny stopped shivering and relaxed into the photo shoot.

“Pastels in the Garden” will be available for sale tonight at 7:00 pm CST, to U.S. and Canadian customers.  I have been having problems with my website refreshing itself immediately for some customers, so you can now go to my website to view the page and see more photos and specifics about this outfit.  To be fair, I will not accept emails or contact forms for purchasing this ensemble until 7:00 pm.  And, please also only send a request once.  This ensemble will be sold to the first email or contact form that I receive at 7:00 or later.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me ahead of time.  Thank you!

“Peaches and Cream” for Penny

My Linda Macario’s Penny has a brand new ensemble to show you.  This teeny tiny peach rose print on a pastel yellow background looked perfect with Penny’s coloring, so this little 8-1/2″ (22 cm) imp was the lucky recipient of an outfit made with this fabric.

Penny’s “light as a feather” tiny sweater is hand knit with mohair/silk lace yarn.  I dyed it light peach to pick up the pretty peach roses in the dress’s print.

I thought a little beret would look cute on this little one, and it does.  Penny’s beret is hand knit with natural colored merino lace yarn.  A peach silk bow, wool felt embroidered leaf, and rose charm add embellishment to the beret.

“A Party in the Rose Garden”

I know it will be at least a couple of months before there are any rose gardens in bloom here in northern Illinois, but I know there are places where roses are in bloom.  BTW, I am so jealous.

While creating Gracie’s new ensemble I let my mind wander… imagining rose gardens where picnics, leisurely walks, and garden parties are going on underneath the blue spring sky.  Doesn’t that sound lovely?

Before I had Kaye Wiggs Gracie and Talyssa dolls, I would have had to pass on this fabric because the scale seemed too big for the smaller dolls.  I find the most colorful prints are usually too large for the Little Darling sized dolls.  This fabric reminds me of a vintage pillowcase; it is so soft and colorful, in a pastel kind of way.  I wanted to make use of all of the pretty pastels, not just the pink, so  I picked out the mint green, yellow, and blue by adding ribbon, charms to the bracelet, and a selection of blossoms for a bouquet to this ensemble.

Shrugs, by design, are nice because they allow the entire dress to remain the focal point.  Gracie is wearing my “fun to knit” lace shrug.  I’ve made this shrug often enough to have memorized the lace pattern and notice when I forget a yarn over or to make a PSSO, so now I can say it is fun.

Gracie’s crocheted hat is perfect for wearing in the garden.  The brim can be worn a variety of ways–one side up, one side up and the other one down, etc.  I used the dress fabric to make a band around the crown and knit a rose and leaf for further embellishment; I also added a tulle bow.

I’ve made Gracie a delicate little pendant out of very fine silver-toned chain and a glass pearl drop.  She loves her whimsical and fun charm bracelet adorning her delicate wrist.
