Evianna’s First Ensemble, “Spring Greening”

Happy Sunday to you! I hope it is a good one. The sun is shining and the snow is already melting here in northern Illinois. The snowfall we had on Thursday ended up being a disappointment for me, but that is ok. The flakes were so fine that they could hardly be seen. I think we ended up with 5 inches of snow over the course of about 18 hours. Maybe the next one…

However, I still made the most of the day by staying in and finishing up Evianna’s first ensemble. It was very relaxing.

Evianna is my Christmas 2022 doll. I love getting a new doll for Christmas… or my birthday… or Mother’s Day. In fact, anytime! A box showed up yesterday and it was a dolly shaped box… but it was only a new filter for our water filtration. 😞

Evianna is the first Li’l Dreamer Dianna Effner doll. She is a sweet addition to my Dianna Effner doll family. I love her!❤️

I found this dress partially finished in a box from another doll. I guess it didn’t fit that ‘new’ doll well enough, so I abandoned it. It fits Evianna quite well, not perfect, but nice enough so I finished it and completed her first ensemble. I have no notes on which pattern this is, so I have to start from scratch for her second ensemble. Oh, well…

I dyed merino wool to get the palest shade of yellow green for Evianna’s knitwear. In the hank the yarn looked barely dyed, but when knit up it is definitely a beautiful yellow green and matches the dress florals beautifully. I made her sweater a bit longer to cover the bodice length and gave it a slight a-line shaping. After many hours of embroidering, and adding shimmery Czech glass bead buttons her sweater was complete.

The beret was looking for some adornment, so that too, got some embroidery.

To complete her ensemble I made pale pink cotton tights. Her tiny crocheted basket holds some pink blossoms. Evianna’s heart charm bracelet tells her that this ensemble was made with love just for her!

Evianna and I say ‘bye for now’. Thank you for stopping by for a visit with us today. We appreciate the company! Take care and enjoy the week ahead! 🤗❤️

Happy Holidays from Bella and Holly

My two Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Bella and Holly (originally Stella), would like to say, “Happy Holidays to all of you!”

As they were busy decorating I got them to stop for a moment to take a quick picture of the both of them. As you can see by their happy faces and sparkling eyes they are the best of friends, and have a lot of fun together.

It has just started snowing here in northern Illinois–not bad yet. We are awaiting more snow and VERY cold blizzard-y conditions through tomorrow. It’s time to get cozy and hunker down!

Everyone stay safe and warm, and enjoy these next festive days if you celebrate. If not, enjoy the end of the week and weekend. ❤️

Gina is “Ready for Fall” — Are You?

It’s a NO from me!!! The way this year is flying by winter will be here any second now. And it’s no secret that I am NEVER ready for that season. How do you feel about winter? Is it anyone’s favorite season out there? I am in awe of you if it is. It seems to be the longest season, so is a great choice if it is.

Okay, that’s all the talk about winter that I can handle right now. Back to Gina who is prepared for that first crisp day of autumn. Her ensemble colors are in a muted fall palette: peach, blue, yellow green, palest pink.

Gina’s fully lined dress is made out of a moody and warm colored print (Ambleside by Brenda Riddle Designs). The floral shapes remind me of different mums which are just starting to bloom here in northern Illinois. Silk ribbon in peach and blue tie twice around the dress’s waistline. Cotton eyelet decorates the skirt’s hemline.

Gina’s bracelet is made with the tiniest glass pearls and blue seed beads, a stone heart (rose quartz?) and peachy crystal butterfly. It is strung on stretchy jewelry cord which makes it easy to slip on.

Gina’s cardigan and beret are knit out of hand dyed merino wool lace weight yarn. If you’d like to knit a cardigan like Gina’s I have a new pattern for it. The pattern is written with line by line instructions to easily follow along with when you are knitting.

Gina picked out a teddy bear to accessorize her new fall ensemble. I embellished her a tad because Gina wanted her to coordinate. She has a scarf knit in matching yarn, a silk ribbon bow, and a cute heart charm. Isn’t she sweet?

Gina and I hope you love her new fall ensemble. She is the first of my girls to be ready for fall. Do you have any fall preparations started yet?

Wishing you a wonderful holiday weekend if you live here in the U.S. If not, enjoy the weekend wherever you live. Sending hugs 🤗 from my sewing room filled with my tiny girls. They’re all blowing kisses to you right now…😘❤️💕💖
