A New Sweater for Didi

Hi there. I hope this post finds you happy and well. I am writing to you from snow covered northern Illinois. We had two storms in the last 1-2 weeks which each dumped 8-9 inches on us, so it is a bit deep out there. My little dogs have a circular area which we shoveled for them and the wall of snow surrounding it is quite high. It is funny to see them in their snow arena. Yes, winter is finally here!

In the last few days I wrapped up two projects: Didi’s cardigan and Rose’s ensemble.

Didi’s cardigan is complete and on its way to Linda Macario. Before I sent it out I took some photos of Bethany wearing it since she is the same size as Didi. I pinned the fabric swatches together to make a skirt so that you can see how the cardigan will look with the dress. Here’s a link to Didi wearing the dress–photos 8 and 10 show the dress.

I am so happy with how it turned out. I hope Didi likes her first sweater. 😉

I’ll save Rose’s new ensemble for my next post. Enjoy your day today! 🤗 to you, my friends.

Are you doing any doll sewing or knitting today?

Something New for Penny

Hello and Happy Weekend to you! I hope you are doing well and enjoying this time of year when the holidays are over.

I’ve put together a short vlog depicting my makes and other life stuff that happened this past week. Not included in the video is how we spent almost an entire day taking all the ornaments off the tree and carefully wrapping them up–tubs and tubs of ornaments. The tree was as crispy as a cracker, and the branches were sagging to the ground–such a sad state for a once beautiful tree. 😦 I am not sure why it dried out so quickly this year; perhaps the heating vent in that room is a powerhouse vent. We also put away almost all the other decorations; I still have my Snow Village up.

Penny’s new ensemble is complete and she is happily modeling it for you. Yes, it is done and I didn’t have to reknit the cardigan. Thank you for your support and suggestions for it.

Last time I talked about how the uneven striping due to the tonal yarn looked strange, but once the embroidery was complete it looked fine. And I think even without embroidery it would have been okay; it kind of matches Penny’s personality–all quirky and cute.

I also made another mistake with this cardigan which I didn’t discover until I put my needles away from this project. I knew something was amiss when I first tried the cardigan on Penny; it was so roomy, but I never (until now) get my number one and number zero needles mixed up. I was actually quite happy to discover this because it is better than my gauge changing and having to rework my patterns. So Penny has growing room with this cardigan. 😉

I wish you all a peaceful weekend and coming week. Enjoy each and every day! Hugs to you, my friends. 🤗

It’s the Week-End

Hello to you. How are you? Thank you for all the well wishes. ❤ You are wonderful and kind! It turns out I have a little infection which was causing my elevated temperature. My doctor prescribed an antiobiotic and I am feeling better. What a relief! My heart goes out to all those who are battling covid. It’s sure is scary.

Mid week I started writing a knitting pattern for a Little Darling’s striped ear flap hat. I am going to include a video link with the pattern that will help with certain steps such as picking up stitches for the ear flaps, the i-cord ties, changing colors for the stripes, making jogless stripes, etc.

Here is my first test piece from my messy notebook. I am writing the pattern and will knit another hat from that to make sure it is all correct. The stripes can be changed in height to the knitter’s liking. I have a page in the pattern with a shaped graph for coloring. 🙂

Yesterday, I started embroidering the above pink sweater coat. I started taking some video embroidering the bullion roses. I recorded how I start–motif placement and motif design. Still more to do with this.

Today I published a You Tube video showing how I embroidered the apples on Lucy’s blue mohair cardigan. I must say that embroidering this sweater was more ripping out than stitching–not so much the apples, but the blossoms. Sometimes those little embroidery fairies aren’t available to help me. (lol) This video is only about embroidering the apples. Future videos will show embroidering other motifs.

So, that’s been my week work-wise since Wednesday or so.

wiMy husband had a birthday this week. My daughter and I managed to find some gifts to order for hime online… and they arrived in time. Always a plus! We baked him a pumpkin cheesecake with a pecan crust–very yummy. We also did our first carry out meal since forever. I don’t even think I’ve eaten out before this this year–no lie!

Sending you happy wishes for a great weekend. ❤ What are you up to… or making? Please share if you’d like to.
