Happy New Year Beginnings

A happy new year to all my wonderful readers!!!

Here in very snowy and cold northern Illinois I have enjoyed my holiday time with my family and away from “work”.  (However, it is not work to me because I love what I do.)  A quote from Gretchen Rubin, author of Happier at Home, stuck with me.  She says, “No matter how much you love what you do, it’s nice to have a little break.”  I have found this to be true.  I feel refreshed and passionate about my little dresses and dolls once again.  I must confess that I did sneak in a bit of time here and there to “work” a bit.  I cannot go cold turkey and create zero, zilch, nada, for oh, probably no more that two or three days.  So, yesterday and today I took some pictures of sets that I completed during my time “off” from “work”.  Here are a couple of sneak peak pics.

Yes, this is for Valentine’s Day.  I know it’s early but, I like to get a head start on holiday dresses so their new owners have a chance to display them on their girls well in advance of the holiday.  Sugar didn’t seem to mind.  The hearts and pink roses match her personality perfectly.  She is a dream to photograph and pose.  I LOVE her!!!  So happy Fairyland is making Pukipuki dolls again.  Denver Dolls also sells these cuties.

Santa’s New Little Helper

Santa has a new elf, Fairyland’s Pukipuki, Sugar.  She is only 1 cm taller than Amelia Thimble, but has a wider body style.  She is still pretty tiny, but super poseable!  Even though her feet are so teeny tiny there are magnets in there so it’s a cinch to have her stand.  If you look closely at my photos you can see the outline of a metal lid under my white sheet.  Her magnets still work through the sheet and her plastic Kelly shoes.  These are the original Kelly doll shoes and fit nice and snug.  There are also a set of magnets in her hands so the metal bell at the tip of her Santa hat sits on her open palm.    My Pukipuki Sugar wanted a set to match Amelia Thimble’s so I made her one to match “Green for the Season”.

The New Girl

I’d like to introduce my new girl, a Fairyland Pukipuki doll named Sugar.  She is 11cm tall so is only 1 cm taller than Amelia Thimble, but has a wider body and limbs.  She is not as delicate by far.  Her hands and feet pop off and on very easily with the help of magnets.  This makes it so easy for dressing or even adding a bracelet, no clasp needed.  I stuck a metal lid underneath my white fabric that I use for photographing and she stood without any fiddling around.  Love her!!!

I just finished this dress for her.  I asked Sugar what she would like for her first dress and she told me, “Roses in lots of  pretty colors.”  I guess it’s because they’re as sweet as she is.  I love how her first dress turned out.  Because she is a wider doll I found more space for embroidering her special roses.

It didn’t take long for Sugar to find a special friend.
