March!

March has marched right in and taken winter back!  It’s cold!  After a March first snowfall, we have a light dusting of white everywhere.  Although it is so light; as soon as the thermometer goes above freezing for the shortest bit of time, it will all melt.  And, I’m not too sad about that either as I was getting used to our springlike weather.

I haven’t gone out to check on my poor crocuses yet.  I really must, to make sure they’re okay.

I don’t know where this week is going.  I’ve been working here and there on different things without anything being completed, which makes me think I’ve not been working hard enough.  It might be time to make a list.

Here are some things I’ve been up to this week so far.

My very patient 11″ Kaye Wiggs Millie is wearing a new dress and unfinished cardigan.

I wrote out a new pattern for a lace stitch cardigan using fingering weight yarn.  I am currently knitting the sample for the Little Darlings.

Next to going to the doctor and dentist, my least favorite thing to do happened yesterday, taxes.  It felt so good to hand everything over to our accountant, but of course, there are a few additional things we need to collect.  Evidently donation receipts need an amount on them.  Who knew . . . silly us.  When our taxes are finished each year, I swear I feel 10 pounds lighter, anyone else feel this way?

Well, enough talking about work; it’s time to get to work; maybe I can get something completed this week!  Thanks for visiting with me today.  Bye for now, friends.

I’m so looking forward to your new pattern. I have enjoyed my time making each of your patterns so far. However, I wanted to ask if it would be possible for you to consider making your patterns adaptable to also fix Diana’s 11-12 inch porcelain dolls. My friends and I make them ourselves and just love you patterns so we’d like to have them fix correctly.

      Hi Darlene,
Wow, that sounds like such fun making dolls. I bet they’re beautiful!
I wish I could say that it is possible to give basic instructions for refitting different sized dolls. However, I really need the dolls for proper fitting. What I recommend is comparing measurements of your doll versus the doll that the pattern is written for. Use the gauge to see how many less stitches are needed for your smaller doll, and then divide them up amongst the sections proportionally. For instance, you could try and remove 2 off the back, then 1 off each front, and 1-2 from the sleeves. You may need to move up the armhole two or 4 rows. You may get close by trying this and then tweaking the pattern here and there. I don’t have the doll though, so I really don’t know their shape and/or size. Good luck. Let me know if I can help you in any other way.

Well since March is in like a lion for you, I suspect it will be lambish at the end.
I can just hear Millie saying hurry up!! And that lilac sweater to be is one of my favorite colors.
We visited our tax person last week. We have no deductions so finally stopped trying to figure
donations, medical etc. Don’t have enough to make a difference. Oh well, at least we’re not doing taxes anymore outselves.

Hi Joy. Yes, March is still quite lion-ish here in Illinois. Another dusting of snow was on the ground this morning, not much though, but it IS cold. I am so ready for warm weather especially after being teased with it for a couple of weeks. Soon… I hope!
Luck you to have your taxes so easy for you. I spent a good amount of time going through photos of donations and basically trying to remember all we got rid of. This was a major downsizing year. But, we still have so much! I hope you are having a great weekend!

Our taxes are done too and I always feel lighter once they’ve been taken care of.
That sweater is so soft and beautiful. Your work is always just exquisite.
We had a week of spring-like weather too and now it’s back to winter for a few days. No complaints here though. Have a great week!

Thanks so much, Susan! We warmed up again, but it will be cold by the end of the week… again. Crazy weather! I guess it’s better than constant cold and snow that’s been around since January, like how most years go. Hope you’ve warmed up again, too.
