Working, Working, and More Working

Hello there!  Oh my gosh, how this past week has flown since I last checked in with you.  I have quite a pile of work completed, but no completed outfits.  I still am not sure I like working this way, probably not, I am thinking.

Gina is the closest to having a completed outfit.  Her dress, sweater, beret, and crocheted flower cutting basket are finished.  She still needs some anklets, undies, and a bracelet.  So close… I know Gina would like for me to get her outfit completed so that she can show it to you in its entirety.

I found sewing 5 (Gina’s was already completed) dresses all at once feeling laborious for me.  I spent one day for the bodices, one day for the skirts, and not quite one day for hand sewing the facings and snaps.

The photo below was taken today of 4 of my 6 ensembles-in-progress.  The navy ensemble is missing from this pile.  I am still knitting the cardigan.  (I found I must always have knitting-in-progress for those times when I NEED to knit.)  And, as you already know, Gina is wearing the white floral dress.

Below is a cardigan for Gracie, and one for my Little Darling, Alice.

I was very pleased with how these darker cardigans took the embroidery, bright and colorful.  I do love them!  The heathered plum cardigan is for Patience, and the heathered tan cardigan is for Patsy.

I couldn’t resist showing you “sacked out Morris” napping in our ground cover.  I guess it makes a nice bed.  I had to be quick to capture this moment; he moves around very often throughout the day.  He has now matted down another part of the ground cover.

Oops, woke him up!

I hope you’ve had a very nice week.  Hopefully, not as wet as ours has been.  Thankfully, we are fine at our house, but after the torrential downpours within the last day and a half, many roads are closed, basements flooded, houses turned into islands, and power outages in many suburbs.  Our county got hit the hardest, the storms just kept on coming.  On the radar, we were in the “red zone” practically all of Thursday a.m. and then into the afternoon as well.

Bye for now, my friends. ❤  Take care!

I appreciate your sharing all the lovely sweaters you are making for 5 of your lovelies. Your embroidery is exquisite and completes each outfit. The dresses are simply divine . Thanks for sharing your specialties . Carol in Rosemont, Ontario. ps. it has been torrential downpour for us here too.

Hi, Carol! I’m happy you enjoyed the photos of my works-in-progress. I am getting a little antsy to get something finished though. It feels strange having so many incomplete outfits.

I hope the rain has stopped for you as it has for us, thank goodness. Have a beautiful weekend. ❤

All of sweaters are lovely, but my favorites are the tan and blue. And a lovely group of dresses too. Love seeing the colors.
Loved seeing the favorite napping spot. Lucky kitty and friendly too. Little feral kitty looks so sweet and innocent. Oh those claws. 🙂
Glad to hear you didn’t get any flooding. No rain here, but it has been nice in the 80’s. May get a bit hot over the weekend.
We will be extremely glad when the road crews finish installing the new gas lines. The jack hammers are extremely loud. They had to tear up (big deep holes) the sidewalk by the side of our driveway to bore new lines. Not too pretty. Guess it will be like that until their contractor can get out and repair it. And at the same time, our neighbors are relandscaping their backyard so there has been a backhoe and other equipment as well as continual dust for almost three weeks now. Crazy.
Glad you are being productive. We are still packing up husband’s old house and getting ready to put it on the market. So many antiques along with 60 years of stuff.

Thank you for sharing your favorites, Joy. It’s always fun to hear. I don’t think I have a favorite in this bunch. I guess that’s good, so I can give them all equal attention.

Yes, those claws on feral kitty are sharp, and she knows how to use them. It is so hard getting food in her bowl without her losing patience. Morris is as sweet as can be. When he is hungry and eating, he’ll let me add more to his bowl, so I could probably touch him. I wonder what his story is. His ear, too, is clipped.

Sorry, it’s still noisy by you. What a way to ruin the summer, huh? Just when the weather is nice too. I hope they are all nearing completion, so you get some rest.

Are you having a sale to sell all of the antiques, or are you keeping them? That would be hard deciding what to keep. I love going through old things, so many stories and treasures to uncover. Even if things don’t have monetary value, they are still treasures. I think so anyway.

I hope you have a quiet weekend, Joy! ❤

Hello, Carol! It’s so nice to hear from you here. All of these works-in-progress are starting to make me uncomfortable, though. I may need to finish something(s) this next week. lol

The kitties are hungry, better go and give them their breakfast.

Thank you for writing, Carol. I hope you have a beautiful weekend! ❤

Hi Cindy , so good to hear from you! Its good you have a lot of work completed and the outfits will go together faster for all the girls! The dresses look adorable and cant wait to see them being modelled. I would love to spend a day watching how you work! I hope the weather is getting better in your area, sounds pretty bad with flooding. Have a great day Cindy, hugs, Terri xo.

Thank you, Terri. Today, Thursday, I am finishing up my last one. Hopefully, I can get all the photos taken in one day, then editing, then writing web pages and blog posts during the next two or three days. Phew–I need an assistant! I hope you’ve had a nice week, Terri.

      1. Terrigirl2017

Wow you are going to be so busy Cindy, I want to apply for the assistant job! I don’t know how much work I will get done though watching all the girls in their beautiful outfits! Wishing you a wonderful weekend and good weather hugs Terri xo.

Ha. Ha. Yes, sometimes the girls can take my mind off of work. I’ve made progress today. All the photos are taken and edited. I found I didn’t take as many photos as usual, so it went quicker. I hope you have a great weekend.

I love seeing all your projects, they are so inspiring. Wish i had more time to do some. Alas, my dolls are sitting on dressers with clothes from last year as I am preparing to teach for fall. Trying to reorganize rooms in my house and get all school items and craft yarns etc, together. the sweaters are beautiful and look forward to seeing your complete outfits for each doll. Lots of rain here also.

Hi, Donna, and thank you. I have some dolls sitting in clothes from years ago too. I don’t think they mind though, not a peep they make.
Do you teach art to children?
Even if you don’t have time to dress your dolls I appreciate you reading my blog… and commenting too. 🙂

The dresses of course are as lovely as ever. But oh how those cardigans do sparkle. Each is a precious little gem.
