Happy Monday, friends! July is well underway and summer weather has finally arrived here in northern Illinois. I’m not sure what took it so long this year, but nevertheless, I am happy it has arrived.
My Little Darling, Alice, has a new dress for these beautiful summer days. This buttery soft sweater dress is knit with Aunt Lydia’s bamboo crochet thread. The bamboo fiber makes for a very soft dress with lots of drape–not stiff in the least.
I embroidered a few free form floral motifs on the front of the dress–nothing too measured and precise. I kept the look free flowing and made up the composition as I went. Free and easy is perfect for this relaxing time of year.
Here’s a photo I previously posted when I started the embroidery–outside on the most perfect weather day. I got almost all of it done that day, and finished it up this weekend.
Isn’t Alice beautiful? She is painted by Nelly Valentino. I love her brown eyes and warm coloring.
I have decided to keep this dress for my Little Darlings’ closet. They get to keep so few things that I make… (Thank you for understanding.)
I hope you all have a great week with beautiful summer (or fall) weather. Thanks so much for visiting with me today, my friends.
❤
Thank you so much, Jaquine. Out of my three Little Darlings Alice is the one who looks to preetiest in warm colors. I enjoyed hearing from you. Have a nice day. ❤
Oh, I’m so happy you are keeping this dress. It turned out lovely and so cheerful. Next winter on a very cold dark day, you can pull out this dress and your photos and they will warm your heart and carry you though to springtime light.
Our chimney of swifts continue to chirp loudly for the insects brought from their parents. Not sure how much longer until they are able to fly out on their own. I’ve been told that they still return to roost at night for awhile anyway. Then, we will install a chimney cap to discourage them next year. 🙂
Hi, Joy. Winter seems so very far away right now, but you are right, it will be appreciated on those cold dreary days.
That must be strange having birds in your chimney. I’m glad they will be able to leave before you want to use your fireplace though. A chimney cap sounds like the answer.
Enjoy your day today. Hope it’s a nice one. ❤
Alice est très jolie et sa robe lui va très bien.
Alice dit “merci pour le compliment”. Je suis d’accord Nelly a créé une beauté. Je la chéris. Merci et merci d’avoir commenté. J’espère que vous passez une belle journée! ❤
Alice says "thank you for the compliment". I agree Nelly created a beauty. I treasure her. Thank you and thank you for commenting. I hope you are having a beautiful day! ❤

Hello, Elizabeth. Alice is my Little Darling I go to the most for modeling warm colors. They just seem to suit her the most, as do the blonde wigs. Thank you for writing. Have a beautiful day, Elizabeth. ❤
Summer has arrived here also Cindy !! July is starting out on a warmer note that rainy June. Such a pretty dress that Alice recieved . I love the knit , and it is good that the bamboo fiber leaves it softer for the summer months. The embroidered flowers are gorgeous. Alice is a very pretty young Lady. I Love her eyes and the ribbon in her hair. Have a nice week of weather , take care Dear, Terri xo.
Hi, Terri. I am happy that you are getting some nice weather…finally. It was very rewarding to get something finished for my girls. I started knitting this dress in mid April! Yes I am enjoying it Cindy! Anyone who orders me to relax can be anyone they want to be , hehe!! I need to take the advice and find more time for me. I am in my forties! So maybe you are not too much older. We are supposed to get a nice day today, sunny and not much humidity. Enjoy, Terri xo.
Your work is lovely as ever 🥰
Thanks so much, Marian. I am very happy that I didn’t forget how to embroider–it’s been so long. Have a lovely day! ❤
Bonjour Cindy,
cette petite robe est ravissante comme tout ce que vous faites !
Vous avez raison de garder une de vos création pour votre petite Chérie. On ne garde pas si souvent ce que l’on fait.
Blessings
Merci beaucoup pour le compliment, Patricia. ❤ Cela me rend heureux de garder cela pour mes filles. Cela peut devenir une habitude – euh oh. 😦
