Hello! How are you? As you can probably tell by the title of this blog post we haven’t had much cloudy weather here in northern Illinois, if at all. As I get older I am trying to be more careful to protect the top of my head and face from the sun. It’s important, right?
We visited the zoo on Monday, and boy was I glad I brought a sun hat; the sun was so strong!!! However, the hat couldn’t help with the heat. Even with my head and face shaded it was still hot–not sure what to do about that.
As I’ve been enjoying the beautiful weather not too much has been happening in my studio, but I wanted to say hi anyway, and since sun hats were front and center in my mind…
My dolls have also enjoyed many sun hats over the past years. I collected a few photos from the past to give you some summery dolly cuties to look at. Shall we start with the tiniest girls first?
If you want to see more photos from the pictured ensembles I linked the photo to the original blog post, so simply click on the photo. Also, for more information on the dolls you can find that on my FAQ page–tab at the top.
I hope this post finds you staying comfortable–cool or warm, depending on where you live. And, enjoying the first day of summer, or winter (yikes–not ready for that one yet!).
I’d love to hear what you are up to on day one of this new season. Please let me know if you’ve got a minute. Hugs from my dolls and I! 🤗

The crocheted hats are lovely, but what I like just as much are the adorable little crocheted shoes. Any chance that a pattern for those may someday be for sale? RRFF size. 🙂
Sorry you’ve been having heat. Here, in northern CA, we’ve had a cool start for summer. Great for working in the yard though. 🙂
Hi, Joy. I would love to share how I make those crocheted shoes! However, they’re probably the most confusing things to try and explain. I think a video would have to accompany that pattern. And, I would need to relearn how to make videos because I have already forgotten! Sheesh! I appreciate you letting me know you’d like to see a pattern for those. I will definitely keep it in mind.
I am happy you guys are having a good spring/early summer. It’s about time–so many years you’ve had it rough. We’ve got some new garden space this year and have been doing more garden work too. It’s feels great getting my hands in the dirt.
It’s so nice hearing from you, Joy. Enjoy your Thursday!❤️🤗
Just the perfect post for the 1st day of summer. The hats are the icing on the cake for each of these flowery little creations. Happy to say in the usually sunny south we are having a week of dense clouds and rain. I love the change from the daily 90’s and blistering sun. Enough about that because I am not ready for winter either. Enjoy your summer Cindy.
Hi, Debra. Thank you! I didn’t realize it was the first day of summer until well into writing this blog post. Spring sure flew by!!!
I can’t imagine having such high temps as usual. Whew!🥵 But, glad to hear that you have some relief.
Thank you for the summer wishes–I will definitely enjoy it, heat and all! You also, Debra!❤️🤗

Nous avons eu de gros orages en France..Pour ma part je suis dans le Nord près de Lille…. Merci pour ce post très agréable à lire….Bonne journée…Bisous….Fanfan
traduit avec Google : Wow!!! How pretty are your ladies!!!!! Thank you very much for these very beautiful photos…Yes it’s hot, the sun is beating down and it’s better to put on a hat. We had big storms in France.. For my part I am in the North near Lille…. Thank you for this post very pleasant to read…. Have a nice day… Kisses…. Fanfan
Merci beaucoup Fanfan.

Thank you so much, Fanfan. I had fun looking for older pictures of my dolls wearing sun hats. They are all so photogenic!
I looked up about where you live. Lille is quite north in France, isn’t it? I imagine it must be beautiful where you live!
I hope all is well after the storms you had. We are drying out again–after more than a week without rain. Maybe we will get a shower or two this weekend, I hope.
Enjoy the rest of the week and weekend, Fanfan. Thank you for writing!❤️🤗
Bonjour Cindy !
Bien amicalement
Hello Cindy !
All of these hats are lovely ! Unfortunately, I don’t know how to crochet it, I would have to try because I really like it ! ❤️🤗
I do some sewing sometimes.
For my part, at the moment, I have my granddaughters on daycare, so I don’t have much time to sew and knit for the dolls !
Here, in France, the summer vacation begins and it lasts two months.
I wish you a nice summer !
Sincerely
Salut, Patricia.

Hi, Patricia. Thank you so much for stopping by to enjoy my photos.
Yes, sometimes life doesn’t give us free time to work on our crafts. How blessed you are though, to have so much time to spend with your granddaughters. They will have lifelong memories of days spent with you. Some of my happiest childhood memories are those of my grandma.
Enjoy the summer, Patricia!❤️
