“My ‘Blue’-ming Garden” and Away with the Blues

I am happy to say that my mood is no longer “blue” and the sun is shining for the second morning in a row.  Thank you for all of the uplifting and helpful comments the last couple of days.  It’s been fun hearing from you.

I picked a bouquet yesterday with creeping Charlie (yes, it’s a weed and my husband didn’t think it was funny), phlox, and forget-me-nots.

The title of Lucy’s ensemble was quite easy to come up with.  Outside of the obvious, it’s blue, and everywhere I look outside I see shades of blue/blue violet blossoms.

Here is Lucy!  She is all ready to stroll around the SUNNY garden paths and collect some flowers to make mom a bouquet for Mother’s Day.

This ensemble ended up having more hand made pieces than what I normally make for an outfit; it was quite labor intensive.  As I was working on this outfit for the Little Darlings, I felt it needed a hat, and then I felt the sweet little crocheted slippers would be perfect… so I went with it, and just kept on creating.  Do you like it?

The hand knit and embroidered mohair/silk lace weight sweater really is “light as a feather” and so soft.  The motifs that I embroidered on the sweater coordinate with the dress print.

Lucy’s crocheted hat is made with three colors of cotton and two different weights.  I wanted it to have the feel of a straw hat, so included a camel color.  It is delicately embellished with cotton lace, silk ribbon, blue blossoms, and seed beads.  I fussed with the bow to get it to lay “just right”.  Everything is carefully hand sewn to this hat with Fray Check added to the ribbon edges.  I love how this photo shows off Lucy’s cute profile.

Lucy’s flower cutting basket is crocheted with hemp.  Her flowers can lay in the basket or she can hold them.  They are secured with a clear band and silk ribbon.

I love these girls in ballet styled slippers.  Their legs are so graceful.  I made these soles out of a matching tan to pick up the natural colors in the hat and basket.

Gina’s drop waist styled dress is simple and perfect for a garden stroll.

Lucy had to have matching panties… a hand dyed and tied silk ribbon to match her dress!

    HI Cindy,
You asked if we liked it???? Yes, we do! Your Lucy is just the sweetest looking #3 ever. Something about her is different than the others.
Her little dress set with ALL the extras is just adorable. You outdid yourself on this one…I love her hat and how you made it “variegated” looking…so sweet!
I bet there are lots of ladies who can’t wait till it 7 p.m. tonight so they can try and snatch this up…
I’m glad you got another sunny day, Cindy,
    Blessings, Jeanne

Good morning, Jeanne! Awww, thanks so much. I agree that I was very lucky to adopt this sweet #3. I didn’t want a #3, and I wasn’t even planning on a new L.D. at that time, but she was there on eBay smiling at me and stole my heart away. Luckily, she wasn’t sky high $$$ otherwise I would have had to let her go; she was just perfect. And, it is amazing how a beautiful, happy doll lifts my spirits. Thanks for the compliment on her new ensemble. It took many, many days to complete, but it was worth it. I have the photos, and my customer will have it for their Little Darling. Weather-wise, we lucked out, were supposed to get rain, but it went east; we have day 3 of a sunny morning! 🙂 Sorry to all those in MI and IN who got stuck with the rain this morning.

Believe it or not, but the first thing that caught my eye were the adorable little shoes. So perfect with the outfit. The gathering basket and sweet hat add so much. Love that blue print and the sweater of course. I think Lucy is another Gina. Both are such lovely models and the outfit shines on Lucy.

      Hi Joy,
My “smiley girl” has been working hard for me lately. Gina is enjoying the rest, I must say. These dolls have the cutest sculpted bodies; it’s fun to dress them. BJDs are fun to pose, but sometimes their joints ruin the lines of wrists, ankles, shoulders, etc. Thank you, Joy!

Cindy, everything about your Lucy is darling! Her hat and basket are the cutest, as is everything else! I love the blue colors. I am glad that you are having nice, sunny weather your way. We are having above normal temps. here in Alberta, Canada. It is very warm and sunny. I will not complain! It`s just that we need rain, very badly. We have not had the spring rains, like we normally do. Very dry and some forest fires happening.

    Enjoy your nice, sunny weather!

      Hi Sonia,
Thank you so much! I don’t do much with blue, I should though. I have another blue floral print with larger flowers; I’ll probably use it for either Gracie or Talyssa. It sounds like even though you are more north than I am, you are warmer. We have had a very cool spring; a jacket has been needed almost every single day. I would love to send some of our storms your way, and you can send some warmth.

I say you a big bravo for this exceptional outfit!
It’s raining again, but the sun comes back tomorrow!
Your bouquet of wild flowers is superb!
    Have a good afternoon!

Awesome ensembles, very inspiring indeed. I would love some of your talent and creative abilities. They truly are a gift from God. Also glad you are over the blues. May your days be sunshine and roses as you celebrate Mothers Day. I don’t have a Lucy doll but will enjoy trying to make my dolls as nice as outfits as yours. You do go the extra miles anyone would love to have for their doll. I enjoy your newsletter. Keep up the inspiration for others to drool over. LOL.

      Donna,
Thanks so much! I am so happy you enjoy my photos. My words and photos are all I can share with everyone since I make “onesies” of my ensembles. It took me a couple of years before I found my “style”, and it is still evolving. I encourage you to keep making things and you will get better and better.
Thank you for the sunny Mother’s Day wishes, and wishing you the same!
