A “Bitsy Pumpkin Patch”

I know that I’ve been talking Christmas, Christmas, Christmas all week.  Let’s get back to reality for a bit…

Here’s the first of my teeny tiny dress/hat sets.  This one is made just for Wilde Imagination’s Amelia Thimble and Izzy dolls.

bitsy pumpkin patch 841I knit this dress and hat out of lace weight merino/silk yarn that I dyed to a light pumpkin color.  I added five bullion stitched pumpkins, tiny brown stems, lazy daisy green leaves, some blades of grass,  and yellow blossoms along the hemline (Amelia has a little corsage blossom on her left shoulder too).  For a different look, this hat is a bit “less deep” than the other two in the series and sits more atop the head.  Like the others, it has a fuzzy mohair stem, crocheted leaf, and curly tendrils.

Oh, I did get some sewing done yesterday.  I now have my first Christmas dress made along with the sweater and hat.  Now, for the fun and creative part–adding the finishing touches and making everything “just so”.

Bye for now!  Thanks for reading.

Hope you had a great day!

I’ve Been Busy…

I just realized that I haven’t had a blog post in September yet.  Yikes!

I have been busy though, really I have.

Here’s what’s been going on here in my creative little world.  We had some cooler weather a few weeks ago and that got me in the sweater weather mood.  However, it seemed as soon as I started knitting the first cozy sweater dress, hot and humid July weather came along and stayed for a couple of weeks, but I persevered and kept knitting anyway.  Yesterday, the hot weather broke and it is slowly getting cooler.  It is still quite humid though.  Anyway, I am collecting a stash of sweater dresses, so will have a bunch for sale one after another probably, so stay tuned.

I’ve made a sweater dress for Patsy, (I know it’s a shocker) and am finishing up one for the Little Darlings (the embroidery is pictured below).  Also, I am almost finished knitting a sweater dress for Millie (see the grape colored knitting below).

Above is the embroidery on a drop waist sweater dress for the Little Darlings.  I pulled the bead pictured below for a possible bracelet.

See, I have been busy!  Thanks for hanging in there with me.  I’ll be back soon with some completed things to show you.  Hope you’re enjoying the month of September and these last couple of weeks of the summer season.

“An Autumn Rose”

Summer is winding down.  Do you feel it where you live?  Boy, did I feel it this yesterday morning!  I wanted to take a few more pictures of Talyssa modeling her new ensemble and I couldn’t wait to get back inside, although it probably didn’t help that I was barefoot!

Talyssa’s sweater is knit with Knitpicks Diadem.  It is a single ply yarn which I found to be quite a challenge to knit with.  The threads in each strand of yarn did not want to stay together (and there were a lot of ultra fine silk strands), so I had to be extra careful to get all of it on my needle with each stitch.  It did get easier as I progressed, but knitting this sweater probably took twice as long as it would have with a plied yarn.  On the plus side, this yarn is very silky and soft; it is made with mulberry silk/baby alpaca fibers.  The photos don’t show how the sweater shimmers and shines.

The headband can be worn like an ear warmer or like a typical headband.  Talyssa is modeling it both ways.
