My First Holiday (Christmas) Ensemble of the Season

My first holiday ensemble is all ready to show you!  I started my holiday creating by using my favorite fabric first, not saving it for one of the last like I did last year.  And, it just so happens that the color palette is a little bit fallish, so it is indeed the perfect one to start with.

Isn’t this fabric cute?  There are so many adorable motifs in this primitive looking print, boring it is not.  And, even though the colors are muted it is still quite colorful.  Yes, it is my most favorite holiday or Christmas fabric that I’ve purchased so far this year.

I had the perfect shade of wool yarn for knitting the sweater and hat.  It matches the rosy color beautifully.  I picked out the blue and green in the print and added bits of those colors throughout the ensemble for extra “colorfulness”.

Bye for now!  Hope you enjoyed seeing my first holiday set of the season.

Remnants From Yesterday’s Work

Yesterday was a fairly successful day.  I put the finishing touches on Sugar’s first Christmas set, completed the embroidery on Gina’s mohair Christmas sweater, completed the Santa hat to accompany the mohair sweater, and worked a bit more knitting Millie’s mohair Christmas sweater.

I took these photos this morning from yesterday’s work.

Today I hope to finish Gina’s sweater by sewing on the button beads and stitching up the underarm seams.  I also need to add the little belt loops for the ribbon waist tie on the dress and figure out the perfect color of tights.  Maybe I will finish knitting Millie’s sweater and/or start sewing her dress.  We’ll see.

Have a great day everyone!

Bye for now!

One More Fall Ensemble

I have one more fall ensemble and my Little Darling, Gina, is the lucky recipient before I go full steam ahead and create ensembles for Christmas and the holiday season.

I guess fall 2015 is the season of purples.  Here’s another ensemble with a shade of lavender and pink, but this one is different.  I don’t think I have ever seen a pink like this—cool, but muted.  Usually, muted pinks go towards the peach and this one doesn’t at all, nor is it a sweet pink.  It is so hard to explain; if I were to mix it up I’d take red and white to make pure pink, add a touch of blue to cool it down,  then add a bit of yellow, so it becomes a neutral.  Anyway, it is a very pretty and unique shade of pink.

I happened to have the perfect shade of muted lavender wool which matches the stems and vines in the print.  For the embroidery, I brought in the merlot color for the colonial knot berries and a coordinating shade of the pink for the bullion, lazy daisy, and back stitched vines and leaves.

I also had the perfectly coordinating shade of merlot heather wool to make a cozy scarf.  The scarf can be worn different ways.

Gina didn’t want flowers to hold, she wanted a soft and cuddly teddy bear, so I found this one in a burgundy red and knit him up his own muted lavender scarf with fringe.  The scarf is removable too.
