A Little About A Lot!

Good morning from probably the happiest place on earth right now.  The Chicago area is happy, happy, happy!  It’s been over 100 years (108 to be exact!) since the Cubs won a World Series!

I went to bed when the Cubs were still ahead by 3 points,  (I knew if I stayed up to watch the game I’d NEVER get to sleep when it was over, too much excitement).  My husband did come in to let me know when the score was tied (what!).  After that I gave up trying to get to sleep, but I did stay in bed and tried to stay calm.  When the fireworks started outside, I knew I could finally sleep!  I do feel tired this morning, but I’m sure not like a lot of others.

Over the last weeks, I’ve been taking a few pictures of fall, but haven’t gotten around to sharing them with you.  This is a colorful and warm autumn!  The trees are taking their time to change and flowers are still blooming.  Look at how green the grass is; it’s like springtime.  Yes, we’ve had lots of rain.

We’ve had some light frosts far from the house.  The frost is so icy and pretty in the early morning.

My husband had a birthday a couple of weeks ago.  My daughter surprised him with a gift sent via the USPS in a Priority box.  This is the first time she isn’t here in person. 😦

My shipment of Christmas yarn arrived last week.  I have lots of yarn, but was sorely lacking in reds.  I even got a couple of forest-y greens.  I’ve been liking green more lately.

Amelia Thimble’s sweater dress pattern is moving along.  I knit three sample dresses and yesterday I sat at my laptop and worked on the pattern pages all day.

The pages take a LONG time to put together.  It’s a lot of work going back and forth between the pages (files) . . . forgetting to add something, then figuring out where to put it, seeing something that doesn’t sound right, then figuring out a better way to say it.  After working on it yesterday, it is basically done, but I need to proofread it.  I am hoping next week it will be available for you.

Next, for a Christmas ensemble is my Kaye Wiggs Millie, one of my most neglected, but patient, girls.  The dress is sewn, the hat is knit, and the cardigan is in progress.  This will be finished next week as well.

Thanks for visiting today!  Bye for now!

Going Forward and a WIP for Sugar

I woke up this morning, Sunday, and started to reflect on things.  My little world has gone through many changes this year, and I feel I need to change (and grow) along with it, in some way at least.

I believe in giving back, and there are many ways to do that.  Mind you, I have put in my fair share of volunteer work, and donating money to various organizations, but I want to do something different; to give back utilizing the talents God has given me.  As with everyone, he has given me my talents for a reason, and I love what I do, so much.

So here I sit wondering how to give back while, at the same time, utilizing my talents.  A few ideas have started trickling in . . . small steps, hopefully in the right direction.  I am working on some ideas, and I hope some of them will pan out.  I’ll keep you informed along the way.  Don’t worry, I will still be doing what I love to do, creating for our dolls.

Meanwhile, I continue to downsize.  I will continue have things on my tag sale page and on eBay (a couple auctions starting tonight) before they head on over to Goodwill.  I don’t know how long I will keep eBaying and tag saling; I may get tired of the whole process and simply donate it all.  It takes a considerable amount of time (time taken away from creating), to photograph, edit photos, add them to my website or eBay, write descriptions, then pack and ship.  Although, I’m not sure Goodwill is the right place to donate boxes and boxes of new dolls though.  Does anyone know of other donation sites?  I’d appreciate some suggestions.

Back to dolls!  I worked on an elbow-length sleeved sweater dress for Sugar (Pukipuki) yesterday.  The style is super cute and fall-like, but I am not sure I like the way her arms can’t hang straight down due to the bulk under the arm.  What do you think?  Really, I’d love to hear; I can’t decide.

In the photo below, you can see how her right arm can get closer to her body (I have her left arm further out on purpose).

Don’t forget, please let me know of any donation sites you’d recommend, thank you!

And, thanks so much for stopping by for a visit! ❤

WIP, Studio, and Some Doll Measurements

Sorry, nothing new to show you today, but I have a few doll measurements and studio shots.  And, I wanted to say hello!  It’s always nice to say hello to you.

I hope you are having a great weekend.  We are still in summer mode here.  It’s a great day to be outside.  As soon as I finish this post I am heading outside to help my husband paint the railing on our deck, so this will be quick.

Wendi , who reads my blog, recently adopted an adorable 10″ Boneka sculpted by Dianna Effner.  It isn’t the easiest to find clothing for these girls, so she was wondering if Bethany (Helen Kish 12″) or Millie (Kaye Wiggs 11″ BJD) would fit them.  I wish I had one of these 10″ dolls, but I don’t, so I took a couple of side-by-side shots of the two I do have and took a few measurements.    I hope this helps you, Wendi, . . . and anyone else wondering the same thing.

Arms outstretched to the sides, measurement from wrist, slightly over shoulders, to other wrist:

Bethany, 8-1/8″ to 8-1/4″        Millie, 7-3/8″ to 7-1/2″

Circumference of upper arm:

Bethany, 2″        Millie, 1-1/2″

Circumference of hand (for sleeves to pass over):

Bethany, 2-3/8″        Millie, 2″

Chest:

Bethany, 5-3/8″        Millie, 4-5/8″

Top of shoulder to knee joint:

Bethany, 6-1/4″        Millie, 5-3/4″

Neck:

Bethany, 2-1/2″        Millie, 2-1/8″

I lined up their shoulders in the shot below.  You can easily see the differences in their torso lengths and widths.

If there’s another measurement that would help, please let me knot, I’d be happy to help.

I’m working on an ensemble for the Little Darlings.  Gina grabbed this one before Lucy and Alice could see I was even working on something for them.  I am currently knitting a hat with those cute little ear flaps to go with this ensemble.  I think a scarf or two would be cute also.

Last week the tinies got into the Halloween costume box.  Look what they found!  I crocheted these costumes for Kelly 10+ years ago!  Sugar (Fairyland’s Pukipuki) discovered they fit her perfectly.  She decided to dress up as a garden fairy (for now).  Poor Amelia Thimble is too small, but is begging for a costume of her own.  Maybe, Amelia, we’ll see!

That’s all for today.  Thanks for stopping by!  I love it that you did! ❤
