Millie is “Dreaming About Spring”

Hello there! I hope all is great with you. After many days of above freezing temperatures we are starting to get spring fever here in northern Illinois. We’ve gotten so much snow this season that it is taking a while for it all to melt; it’s still pretty white out there–very few peeks of grass, but a few. The temperatures, though, have felt wonderful; the wind has stopped biting our faces when we go out for a walk.

Last week I worked on a new ensemble for Millie and she, along with the rest of my group, are now very patiently waiting and dreaming about spring.

In the meantime Millie would love to show you her new ensemble.

Her dress features stems of pink roses is on a beautiful pastel lilac-y blue color. I don’t think I have any other fabric in quite this shade of blue lilac; it’s very soft and soothing. Millie’s cardigan is knit with merino wool yarn that I hand dyed to match the pink roses on her dress. Of course she has bullion stitched embroidered roses on her cardigan. She definitely wanted those! Her crocheted basket is made with pink cotton thread and has a tri-color braided handle. The basket is holding white blossoms sitting on green Easter grass. Her headband is also crocheted, and decorated with white pearlized seed beads. For a little bit of sparkle she wears a pink crystal bracelet with a heart charm to show that I made this for her with much love. Oh, and she wears a pair of white lace tights. I think she looks sweet, do you?

So that’s what I’ve been working on this past week. I have a little YouTube video showing this ensemble in progress if you’d like to see that.

I’d love to know if you have any glimpses of the season ahead. I know for some of you that is autumn, and others like me, it is spring.

Wishing you all a beautiful week! Take care and stay safe! Hugs… 🤗 and thank you for visiting with me.

Let’s Reminisce–Holiday Ensembles for Millie Through the Years

My tiny Kaye Wiggs Millie arrived during the 2014 Christmas season. She was, and still is, a special one indeed–a tiny elfin face with the cutest hands I had ever seen. I promptly made her her very first ensemble befitting of her enchanting personality. It was called “Make a Christmas Wish”.

Then for the 2015 Christmas season she got two holiday ensembles. One a little fancier with “Cozy Christmas Color” and the other more comfy casual with, “My Forever Snowman”.

For the first she wore lace tights and a fuzzy mohair/silk cardigan with botanical embroidery. To keep her playful nature, though, she wore a Santa hat atop her carrot mohair bob.

For her second 2015 ensemble Millie wore a beautiful aqua blue sweater dress that came with a perfectly adorned and coordinated snowman. I think “My Forever Snowman” proved to be Millie’s favorite.

In 2016 Millie wore a vintage inspired ensemble, “Toasty Warm Holiday”. It included a vintage looking headband ear warmer and a fuzzy muff. This ensemble was all about fuzzy snowy-looking pieces with vintage flair.

And for Millie’s last holiday ensemble (to date) she wore another ensemble that included a snowman; this time a little needle felted snowman. This ensemble is called “Little Frosty”and is has more of a classic look than the others.

Those are the five ensembles I’ve made for Millie over the years. This last one is hers to keep–snowman and all. I will help her get dressed up in it soon.

Which is your favorite of Millie’s ensembles?

I hope you are enjoying the start of this special time of year. I love this season, however, it goes by so, so fast. This year I am really making an effort to savor each moment of each day in the hopes it might go a little slower.

I am also documenting this season with some video. I have two new holiday decorating videos on You Tube. I’d love for you to watch them if you’d like.

I really appreciate you visiting with me today. I’d love to hear from you too. How are you decorating for the season?

Stay safe and warm my friends.

Mother’s Day Bouquets for You from Us

Hello, my friends.  Tomorrow is Mother’s Day in the U.S.  It is a day for pampering our moms and those who care for us.  Even if you don’t celebrate this day take a moment to receive some flower bouquets from my sweet girls.  They’ll pamper you just because…

Patience (from Tonner/Wilde Imagination) has picked a little bouquet of bright pink and ivory blossoms.  She’s tied them all together with an even brighter pink ribbon.  Patience is wearing an ensemble from 2017 called “Happiness in Pink”.  Her hot pink mohair cardigan is knit with my Classic Cardigan for Patience.  (The pattern can be found here  and purchased on Ravelry.)

Patsy has picked a bouquet of pure white long stemmed blossoms for you.  She’s tied the stems together with streamers of warm pink ribbon.  How sweet she is!  Patsy is wearing an ensemble from 2017 titled “Blossom for my Love-ly”.  Her mohair cardigan has also been knit with my Patsy knitting pattern.  More information about the Light Cardigan for Patsy can be found here and purchased on Ravelry.

My Little Darling, Lucy, (#3 sculpt painted by Helen Skinner) has picked a pink rose with ivory blossoms and tied them all together with a lilac ribbon for you.  Lucy is wearing a summery sweater dress from 2016.  The ensemble is titled “My Favorite Roses” , more photos and info. can be found by clicking the title.  Unfortunately, I don’t have a pattern for this one.  The sweater dress pattern I have for these girls uses a slightly heavier weight yarn.

Next, is my Little Darling, Gina who is the #1sculpt and painted by Geri Uribe.  Gina has found spring daisies and arranged them in a cute sprinkling can for you.  Gina tied a warm pink bow around the blossoms.  “Daisy Chain” is from 2016; more photos and information can be found here.  Her mohair cardigan is knit with my Light Cardigan pattern using the short sleeves and long version instructions.  This pattern has 3 sleeve lengths and 3 body length versions (all can be mixed and matched for 9 total possibilities).  The pattern can be purchased on Ravelry.

Gracie (Kaye Wiggs MSD sized BJD) has really gone all out!  She’s put together a basket of mauve roses, pink blossoms, and a little teddy bear holding a “made with love” charm.  Tied on the handle is a pink bow.  Gracie’s ensemble is from 2017 and titled “A Springtime Garden Stroll”.  Her cardigan was knit with my pattern for her.  More information on the pattern can be found here and purchased on Ravelry.

Lucy is my Little Darling (#1 sculpt) painted by Nelly Valentino.  She has picked a full bouquet of ivory and peachy pink blossoms for you.  Tied around the stems is a bow with beaded ends.  Her ensemble is from 2017 and titled “Princess in Peach”.  Her cardigan pattern hasn’t been published as shown.  I think I may have used the Lace Cardigan pattern using only the lace panel for the sleeves and made it one repeat shorter, but I cannot remember for sure.  Also, the Aunt Lydia’s #10 bamboo thread (discontinued by Red Heart) knits up as wide as fingering, but with a different row gauge, so you get a shorter sweater. I’m not sure if I re-spaced the buttonholes for a shorter sweater.

Here is Penny (Linda Macario BJD).  Penny has picked a tiny bouquet of ivory blossoms, tied them together with pink satin ribbon, and added a pink heart because she loves you.  Penny wears a sweater dress ensemble from 2016.  It is titled “Pastels in the Garden”.  This is another style I haven’t published, but I love sweater dresses on Penny.  BTW, I do have one pattern for Penny, Polly, and Patty.  It is a Classic Cardigan and can be found using the link and purchased on Ravelry.
