Millie is “Dreaming About Spring”

Hello there! I hope all is great with you. After many days of above freezing temperatures we are starting to get spring fever here in northern Illinois. We’ve gotten so much snow this season that it is taking a while for it all to melt; it’s still pretty white out there–very few peeks of grass, but a few. The temperatures, though, have felt wonderful; the wind has stopped biting our faces when we go out for a walk.

Last week I worked on a new ensemble for Millie and she, along with the rest of my group, are now very patiently waiting and dreaming about spring.

In the meantime Millie would love to show you her new ensemble.

Her dress features stems of pink roses is on a beautiful pastel lilac-y blue color. I don’t think I have any other fabric in quite this shade of blue lilac; it’s very soft and soothing. Millie’s cardigan is knit with merino wool yarn that I hand dyed to match the pink roses on her dress. Of course she has bullion stitched embroidered roses on her cardigan. She definitely wanted those! Her crocheted basket is made with pink cotton thread and has a tri-color braided handle. The basket is holding white blossoms sitting on green Easter grass. Her headband is also crocheted, and decorated with white pearlized seed beads. For a little bit of sparkle she wears a pink crystal bracelet with a heart charm to show that I made this for her with much love. Oh, and she wears a pair of white lace tights. I think she looks sweet, do you?

So that’s what I’ve been working on this past week. I have a little YouTube video showing this ensemble in progress if you’d like to see that.

I’d love to know if you have any glimpses of the season ahead. I know for some of you that is autumn, and others like me, it is spring.

Wishing you all a beautiful week! Take care and stay safe! Hugs… 🤗 and thank you for visiting with me.

Your designs and finishing are beautiful. The orchids are blooming on the patio here in Southern California just ten miles back from the ocean. There is still snow visible on the mountains 70 miles away.

Thank you, Susette! 💕 Your orchid display sounds beautiful. My one and only is also blooming, but inside sitting on the bay windowsill. How amazing that you can see the snow on the mountains when they are so far away. That must be an inspiring view! I hope you have a great day today, Susette! Thank you for sharing.

So nice to see your girls in their very own outfits. 🙂 They are so lucky.
So, how did you attach that tiny ironing board to the standard? Such a great idea to press those tiny garments. I need one of those. 🙂
Still desperate for rain here. We may get a sprinkling Friday, but not nearly what is needed. However, the weather has been lovely. The daffodils are ready to pop and the quince has been flowering for quite awhile. Love seeing all of the color.

Hi, Joy. My dolls cannot believe that after all these years they finally are getting their very own wardrobes. I think they may become a bit spoiled. Ha ha. The ironing board has a hole where a clamp can run through. I had to fold up a piece of cardboard underneath my ironing board though because the threaded area is long enough–just a little short. Here’s one I found for sale. https://poshmark.com/listing/Doll-clothes-ironing-board-5f2b40576e2846305ca4ad2f Have you tried a sleeve ironing board? Those look pretty narrow too. I hope you can get some much needed rain. Ooh, daffodils! They are the signal to me that spring has arrived. We have a while to wait, I am afraid. Enjoy your day today, Joy, and thank you. 💕

All the tiny details are just amazing. Hope the weather continues to improve there for you. Here the weather is a lovely 85 degrees. But summer is approaching which means humid and hot conditions and less outdoor activity for us. We are enjoying for now.

Hi, Heather. Thank you! It’s so nice to hear from you. Wow! It’s warmed up some for you. It’s warmed up here too. We feel lucky when we climb into the 40s–many sunny days now too. Ah, yes, I remember the humidity all too well… Your summers are like our winters–stuck inside. In the meantime though, enjoy your beautiful late winter weather. 💕 🤗 to you both!

Hello Cindy, I am doing well thank you! It is also starting to feel really nice here . We had a nice weekend and after a cold Monday yesterday was beautiful. I still know that where I live you can never tell when the next snowfall is! I am sure Millie and all the Girls are excited for spring! The rose stems are so pretty on her lilac dress. It so nice for her that the material is soft. I love as always the lace trimmed hem. Her cardigan is a lovely compliment to the dress. such great work by you! The basket is so cute along with the bracelet and headband. I would so love to wear this outfit! She is definitely so sweet! The video is amazing as usual showing your fine skills in sewing and embroidery. I love the mini ironing board!! It was so nice to stop by and see you, hugs to you and all the Girls, Terri xo.

Thanks so much, Terri. Wouldn’t it be fun if we could ‘miniaturize’ ourselves so that we could try on the doll clothing? I would love to try on their cardigans.
I am happy to hear your temps are improving. Our Monday was a little colder too, but today is better. Yes, it could slip back to winter at any time. Right now I cannot imagine getting more snow, but I know it will probably happen, right?
Enjoy the rest of the week, Terri. 💕

It sure would be fun to make ourselves miniature Cindy and try on the beautiful clothing! How about I work on making us small, and you talk to girls into letting us share their dresses! I do expect more snow, you always have to when you live in Minnesota! Happy Friday, Terri xoxo.
