Look who was roaming around the garden yesterday! It’s Millie, my Kaye Wiggs 11″ BJD.
Millie wanted to have her photo shoot in the grass, and surrounded by flowers. I said okay, even though it’s physically harder to take photos “way down there”. I thought I’d give it a shot though; I didn’t want to disappoint my tiny Millie. I found the perfect spot in the shade of our apple tree and gave a small patch of lawn a hair cut, so she wouldn’t get swallowed up by grass. I brought out my yoga mat to lay on, but sitting on the grass was the perfect height. I was actually quite comfortable once I got situated.
You might recognize this fabric. I used it for an ensemble for the Little Darlings earlier this year. Here is Lucy modeling “Pink Happiness” in case you want to see it again.
Millie’s little cardigan is knit with blush pink lace weight baby alpaca/silk yarn. It’s super soft! Ivory/pink roses pink up the background ivory of the dress. I added a tiny bit of pastel sky blue embroidery. It’s in the print, but is very light.
Millie’s headband includes a crocheted ivory rose made with very fine cotton. A hand made bow is tucked underneath the rose for added prettiness.
I haven’t used my park bench for a photo shoot in a long time. I used to use it all the time when Bethany was getting lots of attention. The seat is a little deep for Millie, but she tried very hard to sit up straight for me.
Millies is such a feminine little miss, isn’t she?
“Cutie in the Garden” will be available tonight (June 28, 2016), 7:00 pm CST at cindyricedesigns.com. At that time you can go to my “Shop What’s New” page for more information.
Millie’s photos are really beautiful! I love the fabric you used! The ensemble is luminous!
Have a good afternoon!
Warm regards.
Catherine
Hello Catherine,
Millie enjoyed our photo shoot in the real grass this time. I just bought this fabric with the yellow background, now I have 5 of the 7 colors! Thank you for your comment! It’s so nice to hear from you. I hope you’re enjoying your Wednesday.
Little Millie is sweet as honey! Such lovely photos, it’s hard to pick my favorite, but I do like the 2nd park bench shot.
The hint of blue in the little sweater reminds me of forget me nots. Before they go to seed and cling to everything 🙂 We’re battling cockle burrs. They seem to be everywhere and are almost impossible to pull off shoes/socks.
Hi Joy,
Thank you, she’s an angelic little sweetheart for sure. Not sure if you have this problem, but the seats are always too deep for my dolls. The dolls cannot use the seat back to hold them up. Grrr! Luckily Millie was in a good mood and sat up straight all by herself. 🙂
Luckily, I pulled most of my forget-me-nots before they got clingy, but there are still some left. There are still new forget-me-not seedlings growing. They are unrelenting. I hate those burrs (didn’t know what they were called); we always get them stuck to us when we walk through the brush.
Have a great Wednesday, Joy!
HI Cindy,
You must be more agile than I am… I’m not the greatest at getting down on the ground. In fact, a few days ago, when I was sort of wondering about doing that Maypole display outside, I was thinking how neat it would be to have a little plot of grass planted up higher so I could do photo shots in it. Maybe plant a section of grass in a raised up wagon or something like that, and I could “give it a haircut” like you did but it would look good for some outside shots. I may have to think more about this…
Millie is just the sweetest little doll…and I love her in this dress. I like her in the 2nd photo where she is looking up at us and the park bench one too… She looks so sweet…that’s the best word to describe her….sweet… I’ve use it 3 times in this paragraph!
Thanks for sharing your outside pictures of her with us, Cindy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Ha! I don’t know how agile I am, Jeanne. Once I got down on the ground, I didn’t want to get back up until I was completely done with the photo shoot. Not sure the grass shots work for all dolls. Yesterday Gina had a hard time standing on the uneven lawn surface, and the grass hid her crocheted slippers, so I moved her to a bench that I brought outside. A bench or table surface that looks like a sidewalk or path would look nice. I cannot seem to find the perfect “forever” spot for my photography. What’s constant is it’s always ever changing. I think one of my favorite backgrounds is using the lit Christmas tree.
Yes, Millie is a sweetheart. I wish I could make her more things; so many dolls, too little time.
Have a great holiday weekend, Jeanne.
