“A Darling’s Choice”

Pink or lilac . . . lilac or pink.  When you simply cannot choose, choose this lovely print.  Pink and lilac are given equal billing on this Japanese cotton fabric with its tiny blossoms.  I love how their done in a washy watercolor style.

Lucy’s light as a feather bolero is hand knit with mohair/silk lace weight yarn.  This is a new style for me.  It has a slightly rounded front edge and a crocheted ruffly edging around the opening.    Embroidered roses are scattered along the neckline in two shades of pink and two shades of lilac.

The crocheted basket holds a tiny bouquet of lilac blossoms tied with a pink ribbon.  A crocheted beaded headband with bow adds a bit of sparkle.  Anklets, lilac panties with a bow, and a beaded bracelet complete this pink and lilac ensemble.

“Princess and the Pearl”

Here are the photos from yesterday’s “miraculous” photo shoot!  You can read why I thought it was “miraculous” here.  BTW, the weather never improved after those couple of hours after noontime.  And, this morning, it’s dark, dreary, and rainy, yet again.  I keep reminding myself “April showers bring May flowers”.

The dress in this ensemble is the last of the 6 fabrics in this collection that I purchased.  Three prints are from the cool palette and three are from the warm palette.  Each palette had a tiny print, medium print, and a larger print with bouquet motifs.  This is the tiniest print in the warm palette, and is the most delicate of all the prints.

Gina’s dress is a longer bodice styled dress.  The skirt is embellished with a double row of ecru English cotton Cluny lace snugged underneath pin tucks.  The first row of pin tucks is decorated with hand made pink satin bows which are sewn on equidistant from the center front.  The same ribbon is used for the waistline tie which ties twice around.

The springtime lace capelet is hand knit with warm pink baby alpaca/silk lace weight yarn.  Rows of eyelets separate the panels.  Mirrored embroidery decorates the front panels and two of the back panels.

Gina’s headband is very delicate and I think makes her look like a princess.  I’ve carefully arranged and hand sewn three different kinds of blossoms, a bow, pearls, and seed  beads onto the headband.  I’ve sealed the blossoms to prevent them from fraying.

Pearl, Gina’s bear, is my first needle felted bear.  She is my fourth tiny animal–I am still learning this craft.  I love her though, and Gina does too.  She wears a matching bow around her neck and a heart appliqué (made from dress fabric) on her belly.  She is always ready to give her mom, Gina, a tiny blossom to show her how much she loves her. ❤

The other accessories include a pair of pink nylon tights and a bracelet with a mother-of-pearl heart dangle.  This ensemble was made with love and much care in its creation.

“Spring Means Hoppiness” for Miss Millie

Hello everyone . . . from sunny, but cold, northern Illinois.  I think this is my favorite part of the weekend; it’s Saturday morning, and the whole weekend is ahead.  I know that some of you, across the globe, are already well into your weekend.  I hope it’s going well.

I think I had a productive week.  Things (finished ensembles) are starting to pile up (I have three, and three more in the planning stage, and one pattern almost all written) and are overwhelming me.  It’s time to get what I have completed on my website for you all to enjoy.

Today, I will share Millie’s, my Kaye Wiggs 11″ BJD, new ensemble with you.  You’ve probably already caught glimpses of this one in a previous post, on Facebook and Instagram, but here it is complete.

This dress is made with the same print as I used for my last Little Darling ensemble, but this one is in blush pink.  Isn’t it delicate?  It’s hard to see, but there are the tiniest white pin dots silkscreened on this print.

A row of scalloped English cotton Cluny lace is snugged underneath a tuck on the skirt.  An asymmetrical hand made rayon ribbon bow highlights the lace and tuck.

Millie’s “light as a feather” cardigan is made with warm white mohair/silk lace yarn.  I’ve embroidered two mirrored rose bouquet motifs on the front of the sweater.  The cardi looks cute worn open or buttoned.

Pip the bunny comes along with Millie’s ensemble.  I named him Pip (both begin with the letter p and are three letters long, ha ha) because he looks like Pat the Bunny created by Dorothy Kunhardt.  Pip is needle felted with wool roving, has sewn on seed bead eyes and an embroidered nose.  Boys can wear pink, and Pip wears it well, doesn’t he?

Millie’s other accessories include a crocheted and beaded headband with a matching hand made bow, white chunky knit cotton tights, and a bracelet.  In case you are wondering, this ensemble was made with great care and love, and is filled with hugs from Pip.  He’s a great hugger.
