First Week in August

Happy Sunday to you from sunny, hot, and very humid northern Illinois.

I’ve kept busy this week, but not sure where it all went to, which is probably the norm for me–the weeks rush by.  I had to look at my planner to see what it is that I happened to accomplish, or not accomplish this week.  (I guess I did enough.) 🙂

I finished my blue ensemble for the Little Darlings.  I am calling it “Summery Blue in the Garden”.  Here are some photos I took of Gina modeling it.  Thanks to all who helped me with my fabric choice.  I think you all picked a winner!

Another finished project this week–the second sock to complete a pair.  I also started another second sock that will complete another pair.  At one point I had four single socks completely knit (not much use to us).  I have two complete pairs and two singles left to work on.  My ‘four pairs of socks’ project is getting there.  This yarn is so bright; there’s going to be some colorful feet walking around here soon.

I also knit a shrug and beret for my next Little Darlings ensemble.  The beret is knit from my beret pattern.  The shrug (sorry, no pattern) is knit in a simple lace stitch pattern with a crocheted shell edging added once the underarm seams have been sewn up.  I’ve made lots of these in the past for the Little Darlings and the MSD sized Kaye Wiggs girls.  They seem to love them!

If you’d like to see more ensembles that feature shrugs here is the link that connects you to all my blog posts that were saved with the ‘shrug’ tag.  FYI, there is a group of words in the right sidebar (scroll down past my pattern covers and social media icons) where you can click on a word and see all of the blog posts that were saved with that tag such as shrugs.  The larger the word the more posts there are saved with that tag.

We had a wedding in the family yesterday.  My nephew married his college sweetheart.  She is a sweet and beautiful girl whom we welcome into our family with open arms.  We are so happy for them both!

I hope you’ve had a fantastic week and wishing you a great week ahead.  Thank you so much for visiting with me today!  How was your week?  Any plans for the one coming up? ❤ ❤ ❤

“A Darling’s Choice”

Pink or lilac . . . lilac or pink.  When you simply cannot choose, choose this lovely print.  Pink and lilac are given equal billing on this Japanese cotton fabric with its tiny blossoms.  I love how their done in a washy watercolor style.

Lucy’s light as a feather bolero is hand knit with mohair/silk lace weight yarn.  This is a new style for me.  It has a slightly rounded front edge and a crocheted ruffly edging around the opening.    Embroidered roses are scattered along the neckline in two shades of pink and two shades of lilac.

The crocheted basket holds a tiny bouquet of lilac blossoms tied with a pink ribbon.  A crocheted beaded headband with bow adds a bit of sparkle.  Anklets, lilac panties with a bow, and a beaded bracelet complete this pink and lilac ensemble.

One More for March!

Hello to you all!  Yep, one more, and then March 2017 is a wrap.

My very spoiled Little Darlings worked out amongst themselves who would model this last ensemble.  They decided that Alice, my Little Darling painted by Nelly Valentino, would be the one to get the job.  I must say they chose well; she looks as sweet as sugar in this new spring set.

Isn’t she a cutie pie! ❤  Alice shines in neutral, warm colors.

The fabric I used for this dress is the same print as used for “A Whisper of Spring”, but this one is in the warm palette.  The colors coordinates with Gracie’s “A Springtime Garden Stroll”.

This print is made up of salmon, blush pink shades, a bit of neutral gold, and a soft green.  The background is the palest of peach, as light as ivory, but peachier.  The hemline is edged with a beautiful scalloped English cotton Cluny lace in ecru.

I chose to highlight the salmon color with a rayon ribbon sash and a hand made bow on the cloche hat.  Alice’s cloche is crocheted with ivory cotton and white bamboo.  The brim is edged with a feminine shell stitch.  I like the brim turned up on the right side, a very stylish look.  The bow is handmade with a multi pearl beaded center, and the knit leaf is in a soft green bamboo.

Alice’s hand knit “light as a feather” cardigan is made with lace weight mohair/silk yarn.  The floral embroidery coordinates with the dress.

Alice’s spring basket is crocheted with blush pink cotton.  Her little duckling is a vintage porcelain miniature, and sits atop a bit of green Easter grass.  Alice’s bracelet is made with tiny pearls and pink seed beads.  A peach/clear marbleized glass heart dangles from the bracelet.  The tights are in the palest warm shade and are made with rayon Lycra® knit.
