Hello! Do you have memories writing letters to Santa? I don’t really, but I’m sure I did write to him at some point. Santa was very magical to me until I was about 10 years old. I never figured it out myself–my mom had to break the heart wrenching news to me, and I really was devastated. I was assured he would still visit and leave gifts, as I had younger siblings, but that didn’t matter as much as the magic being gone. 😥
Talyssa is a believer and I will never tell her otherwise. This sweet girl wrote the nicest letter to Santa this year. Talyssa would love a puppy, and only if it is okay with her parents. (After all, they are the ones who will do most of the work, right?) Talyssa then ends her letter with a P.S. offering her help to Santa, that is if he needs it.
Talyssa has donned her Santa hat and festive attire so that she can be ready just in case she hears back from Santa asking for her help.
The dress fabric was purchased last year and is called “All the Trimmings” by Maywood Studio. Talyssa’s cardigan is my pattern and was made longer with a bit of a-line shaping. Let me know if you’d like the particulars on how to change the pattern. I hand dyed Knit Picks Preciosa to this pretty cherry red. Bare Preciosa is used for the hat’s band and pom pom.
Have you started any holiday decorating yet? We will be visiting the tree farm and putting up our tree is two short weeks. Unbelievable!
I’d love to hear about your holiday preparations going on now or soon to be.
Sending hugs and warmth during these darker days in the northern hemisphere.
❤️🤗🧡
Soooo cute!
Thank you, Pat! ❤️
Very sweet! Talyssa is adorable in that letter print with the candy cane border. Great idea. And the sweater and hat are beautiful as well. Do you have a dolly mailbox? It would be so cute for her to be standing by the box near the Christmas tree.
Here, we’re still in Thanksgiving mode although yesterday we journeyed down to see the grands and celebrate an 11th birthday. They have up their outdoor ice icicle lights with an outdoor tree and deer on the lawn. All ready for the holiday. I suspect that they will also have their indoor trees up by Thanksgiving. 🙂
Hi, Joy. Aww, a mailbox would be so perfect! Thanks for the idea. I will keep my eyes open for one or how to make one.
I saw outdoor icicle lights in our neighborhood also. They looked pretty. A beautiful way to brighten up these dark days. If the tree farm were open before Thanksgiving I suspect we may put ours up earlier also. For some reason it doesn’t seem too early this year.
Have a great week! It’s so nice chatting with you, Joy! ❤️
Traduit avec Google : How cute she is !!! She offers her help to Santa Claus it’s awfully nice of her because with all the children he must need a lot of elves. I really like his outfit..Bravo ….. For my part, the legend of Santa Claus left all alone in the evening being in bed I heard a noise in the cellar, dad was tinkering, and at Christmas I saw that my brother had had a superb truck, and I had a nice cupboard for my dolls and .. These toys were painted in the same colors as the kitchen of the house .. so … But I always liked this period and this memory is still engraved in my head ….
Have a nice day … Fanfan
Salut Fanfan.

Hi, Fanfan. Aww, what a wonderful memory you have of your dad making you and your brother gifts from Santa. That is magical too, even though you knew it was your dad. So much love in those toys he made you!
Thank you for writing. Talyssa and I are happy to hear from you.
Have a wonderful week! ❤️
Every detail is so sweet. Love the fabric too. Wow!
Hi, Heather! ❤️ Thank you so much. That fabric! When I saw it last year I HAD to purchase it even though I have no business buying more! Have a great week! ❤️ and 🤗 to you both.
Hi Cindy, It’s another adorable ensemble, nothing more than I would expect from you. I mean really, your attention to detail is always spot on. I’ve begun thinking Christmas and may put up my tree this coming weekend. It’s artificial and I can manage it on my own. I am working on two festive holiday runners for my goddaughter’s daughters. They are both married and are like nieces to me. As for letters to Santa, I never wrote one but my son sure did. Such a happy memory. Have a great week and I look forward to your next lovely offering. Marian
Hi, Marian. Aww, thanks so much. I cannot take all the credit. The fabric did all the work!
What a great idea to get your tree up early. It seems like it is time already. And then there is more time to enjoy it.
Wow! How treasured those table runners will be! I can see them being passed down for many generations. Beautiful memories!
So cute–your son wrote to Santa! Ah, those early years and all those memories…
I will definitely enjoy my week, thank you. I’m finishing up something for my Penny BJD (Linda Macario) and have started a dress for Patience (Wilde Imagination). I still want to make something for my Kish Bethany and Alisha and M.E. Sophie. Not sure all that will get done, but I am optimistic.
Wishing you a beautiful and productive week, Marian. Thank you for chatting with me. ❤️
Hi Cindy I am so sorry that the magic of Christmas was taken away from you at 10 years old ! I can imagine it was a hard thing for your Mom to do too. I can remember writing to santa vaguely . I also had to keep the magic going later on for my younger brother and sister. I am so happy Talyssa is a believer!! She is such a sweet 9 year old , I love those eyes ! She is very focused on her gifts this year in getting a puppy, I hope her parents are agreeable to having a puppy ! How sweet of her to offer help to santa! I love the busy print on her pretty dress . Great work doing the A line shaping on the cardigan. I do like the deep cherry red color . We have not started the decorating yet, we usually start on thanksgiving weekend. We will be hosting thanksgiving so will leave our fall decorations up until then. ( I just realize that is in 8 Days !!!) Where is the time going ! Will your daughter be joining you for Thanksgiving? It is 37f and sunny as I write getting up to 41 here in Minnesota twin cities area. Sending hugs to you in the Northern Illinois area , Terri xo. P.S. I just read my friend Carmen’s blog and she reposted an entry from her daughter in memory of her Grandma, I thought you might like to see it , https://fashionableover50.wordpress.com/2021/11/11/remembering-lora-herrmann/
Best wishes, Terri xo.
Hi, Terri. Yes, I imagine it was hard for my mom. I don’t think she had to do the same for my siblings, only me. Gullible me!
I really think Talyssa might get her Christmas wish. Her parents are keen to bring a puppy into the family. Shh… Talyssa cannot find out… It’ll be the happiest of surprises.
I’m not sure how it is practically Thanksgiving! Yes, my daughter will be with us for the holiday–the afternoon anyway.
What a great post written by Carmen’s daughter about her grandmother. I still miss my grandmother every day even though it’s been almost 15 years. She was the BEST!
It’s very blustery and cold here today. The sun was out, but now the sky is grey. I wonder if snow is coming–definitely feels cold enough.
Enjoy your day, Terri. ❤️
How wonderful and how clever of you Cindy to find that Santa fabric and to create such a perfect outfit.
Not much Christmas here as we’re about to move back to England but we’ll catch up. Enjoy this special time of year.
Hi, Judy. Thank you for stopping by to chat. How exciting! I am wishing you a safe and easy move back to England. I hope you can find some time to relax and enjoy the holidays too! ❤️
