Holly is Feeling Oh So Lovely

Hi there from bitterly cold northern Illinois. However, I am cozy inside with a fire going in our fireplace. The Olympics are on and I have a snoring chihuahua wrapped up in a blanket next to me. Life is good!

Holly and I had a little photo shoot yesterday afternoon. (The lighting wasn’t great, but either I am busy or it is cloudy; I got tired of waiting for the perfect time.) Anyway, I think you’ll get the idea.

Holly is dressed and ready for Valentine’s Day 2022. Holly’s dress is made out of a peach striped cotton fabric which is sprinkled with red and yellow roses. Her red wool cardigan is keeping her cozy and warm and is embroidered in colors to coordinate with her dress.

Holly has been busy addressing valentines to her doll room friends. She loves the vintage ones the best. Even though she is the ‘new doll’ everyone in the doll room loves her very much. She is happy to have had such a warm welcome when she arrived on Christmas Day.

What is happening by you this weekend? I hope the rest of your weekend is perfect in every way! Enjoy! Sending you virtual hugs from all of us in the doll room! 🤗

Penny Wraps Up the Year

The end of 2021 is upon us, and no, I cannot believe it, can you?

Penny (by Linda Macario) is wrapping up the year by showing you her holiday ensemble, my last make of the year. She is dressed warm and snuggly, and a good thing, too; we have snow coming tomorrow–the first measurable of the season. We’ve all been waiting… It will be magical!

Doesn’t Penny look warm dressed in “Homespun Holiday”? She wears a wooly cardigan and pixie hat along with rosy heather tights. The dress is sewn with one of my favorite holiday prints, “Under the Mistletoe” by Anni Downs of Hatched & Patched. I love the many primitive motifs and the palette of muted colors the designer used in this print. In 2015 I used this same fabric to make my Little Darling, Gina, a holiday ensemble. Here is a link to that ensemble’s post if you’d like to see more photos. Even though this fabric is probably impossible to find now Anni has a Christmas collection coming out in May which looks like there might be some cute prints included in it. Also, more pictures of her fabric here.

So as we wave ‘so long’ to 2021, Penny and I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year! Have a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve, too! Do you have exciting plans? It’ll be pretty quiet here by me.

Love 💖 from my girls and I. xoxo

Patience “Cute and Quirky for Winter”

Hello! I hope this post finds you happily enjoying the weekend. It is Saturday morning here and all is good.

Patience received a new holiday ensemble this year and she has been eagerly waiting to show it to you. She is also eagerly awaiting that first snowfall. Other than some very sparse flakes, that didn’t stick, we’ve not had any here in northern Illinois.

Patience’s cute snowman print dress features rows of colorful snowmen. This cotton print fabric by Lori Holt (Cozy Christmas, Riley Blake Designs) also came in a pink and blue background color way. I liked the sunny yellow. There are some sellers on etsy that have this print if you are interested.

Patience wanted black coal buttons for her “snowy” cardigan which is knit out of mohair/silk lace weight Aloft. She wanted to be like her little snowman. The coal buttons are actually black beads (I had exactly four!) that I found in my stash.

Patience’s three scarves are knitted four stitch i-cords decorated in a variety of ways. The green one reminds me of how our golden retrievers’ fur would get after walking in the snow. It was so silly to see balls of snow dangling and jiggling from their legs and chest. It never seemed to bother them at all.

This little snowman is needle felted with merino fiber. His features are sewn on with seed beads. His scarf matches one of Patience’s and is a 2-stitch i-cord. The earmuffs are made with purchased pom poms and a strand of wool yarn–all sewn on.

And, as you can see Patience is NOT letting him go! She can keep him forever and ever… he’ll never melt!

Do you have any snow yet? Like Patience I’m still waiting for that first magical snow.

Sending you warm December wishes. I’d love to hear what you’re up to this weekend!
