“Pink ‘n Plum Sweetie”

It’s Lucy’s turn to model something new for you.  She has been quite patient, I must say.  She hasn’t had a turn since early May.

Back in June Lucy was already wearing a new dress and waiting for me to return from Florida so she could model the entire ensemble for you.  Well on the way home from Florida (we drove) we found out that Alice would be arriving very, very soon.  Lucy wanted to welcome her with open arms, so gave up her new dress to Alice.  Isn’t Lucy the sweetest Little Darling ever!

I love this fabric.. and I think lots of you did too!  I used it about the same time last year for an ensemble and then quickly made another in the smaller scaled, but same color way  fabric.  It turns out that this fabric is PERFECT for the pink mohair yarn I often knit with, so I decided to use it again.  Lucy wasn’t around last summer, so this is all new for her!  Doesn’t she look happy!

This time I made a longer sweater, so the dress is a drop-waist style.  You can see my first “Pink ‘n Plum” here, and “Pink ‘n Plum Encore” here.  I changed the waistline sash from ribbon to lace, and added a bow to the headband.  Lucy has a drawstring bag (which she LOVES!) instead of a little bouquet.  All in all, she one happy girl.

During our photo shoot Lucy and Alice wanted some photos taken of the two of them.  Then, Gina wanted to try on Alice’s new outfit, so I took some outdoor photos of Gina.  Most definitely, we had fun!

First, it’s Lucy and Alice modeling together.

Then Gina tried on Alice’s outfit.

I thought Gina looked adorable in “Chic Not Shabby”.

Lastly, a hug for Gina from Lucy!

Introducing . . . and Naming Her

Exciting news!  I have a new Little Darling!  Her name is Alice; she is a number one sculpt painted by Nelly Valentino.  I’ll let Alice’s photos do the talking.  You can see how beautiful and sweet she is. ❤

This girl was meant to be Alice.  When Nelly emailed me her first photos, I showed them to my daughter.  My daughter, who also named my Lucy, said she looked like an Alice.  Well, I wasn’t sure, so over the course of the next couple of days we both thought of several other names:  Dorothy and Dot (both names after my mom), Tulip, Lilly, Susan.  We then took the scientific approach (ha ha) for naming this girl because we just couldn’t decide.  My daughter wrote all of the names on a piece of paper; I closed my eyes and pointed to a name.  My index finger landed between Alice and Dorothy.  Okay, now we need a tie breaker.  She took the two pieces of paper, one with each name on it, in a different hand and told me to pick a hand; I picked the right hand.  So, you see, even after all of the fussing she was meant to be Alice.

Lucy has been generous to her new sister and has given up her next outfit, so that Alice can model for you ASAP!

Soon, soon, very soon . . . Alice will model it for you.  Right now she is enjoying her new home.  I think she’ll love it here, don’t you?

Everyone enjoy your day!  Bye for now!

Many Outfits are in Progress

Hello everyone!  The summer season has officially started here in the United States.  Yay!

I’m sorry that I wasn’t around to chat last week.  My daughter graduated from high school and it was super duper busy around here.  So many good byes and things ending . . . it’s hard.  I know there will be lots of new beginnings, but the endings are sad, they really are.

Last week, I sewed . . . and sewed; I ONLY sewed!  I didn’t knit, crochet, embroider, or complete any ensembles.  When I would get some time, I would run down to my studio to sew another dress.  Now I have 5 dresses waiting for their sweaters to be knit and/or embroidered.

You can see who the dresses are all for.  I do at least have all the sweaters planned—Patsy’s is knit already.  I’m going to knit all of the sweaters and then go back to embroider and complete the ensembles.  Gotta sometimes change things up.

Gina’s sweater will be knit with white lace weight mohair and then dyed a very light rosy pink.  Lucy’s  will be a light pink bamboo.  Gracie’s cardigan will be white pima cotton/bamboo.  Patsy’s is white mohair lace.  And, Millie’s will be knit with pink baby alpaca/silk lace yarn.  I also have a small ball of merino lace yarn that I hand dyed (a couple weeks ago) a light sky blue to knit a dress for Sugar.  I guess I’d better get knitting!

Wishing you all a great Tuesday!  Bye for now!
