Grape Crush

Growing up I loved anything grape flavored:  lollipops (or suckers, as we called them), grape soda (Grape Crush was the best), popsicles, Kool-Aid.  I even liked the grape flavored cough medicine.  I must have over dosed on artificial grape flavoring and purple coloring over and over again; we had no idea back then that it might not be good for us.  My mom did limit our sugar consumption, so that, at least was a good thing.

Why am I talking about grape?  Well, this yarn that I used to knit Millie’s new sweater dress reminded me so much of all things flavored grape and I didn’t need to consume anything potentially bad for me in the process.  It is a gorgeous purple heather:  hot pink, raspberry, navy blue, and tints of purple make up this most dimensional yarn.  Even though I loved this yarn on its own, when I added the vibrant colors of embroidery this yarn came alive.

Millie’s short sleeved wool sweater dress nips in at the waist and then has a slight flair to the skirt.  It is shorter in length to look cute paired with tights.  These tights are in a light weight raspberry heather cotton knit; I love it when I find the perfect color  in my stash.

Bye for now!

Just “A Glimpse of Fall”

After all it is still summer, so a glimpse or a little peek is just enough for now.

First off, I would like to offer my apologies to all those who sent me a contact form requesting to purchase “Pink ‘n Plum” for the Little Darlings last week.  There was a flurry of activity going on at home right when I was publishing my website and blog post.  So, between the guilt of wanting to help put away the groceries and get “Pink ‘n Plum” published for 7:00 as promised, I forgot to hit the publish button after marking the ensemble “Sold”.  I promise to do better next time.

Without further ado, here is Millie to show you her “A Glimpse of Fall” ensemble.

Millie and I had a very quick photo shoot on Friday.  It was VERY warm and I didn’t want her to get overheated in her hat and scarf.  Millie is so photogenic that it didn’t take long at all to get some great shots of her.

Even though Millie looks adorable in her hand knit accessories, I sincerely hope that they aren’t needed for a while.

Summer Means Lots of “Blue Skies, Sunny Days”

A picture perfect blue sky along with a sunny day is the kind of summer day I had during this photo shoot with Millie.  It was a pleasure being outside and taking these pictures of her.  I thought she looked lovely outdoors.

Millie finally got her very own light as a feather mohair/silk embroidered sweater.  It is embroidered with sunny yellow roses and blue colonial knot sprays of flowers.

Millie is wearing her new wig that I ordered just for this ensemble.  It is a mohair bob from Kemper.  You can see it here.  I needed to play hair dresser and trim it a bit because it was way long.  Trimming the wig was actually quite easy to do.
