Finally…It’s Looking Like Winter

December was a pretty painless month weather wise for us in northern Illinois.  The temperature stayed right around freezing, not very cold for us.  So, no weather excuses for not getting the Christmas shopping done.  Well, it’s a new year and new weather.  This morning we woke to a winter wonderland.  It’s still snowing mid morning with more coming tomorrow.  After that it will get very cold.  Winter is finally here!

Sugar (Fairyland Pukipuki) has never felt snow.  I know, it’s my fault.  She hasn’t had proper winter clothing.  However, last week I knit her a bulky wool sweater which will keep her nice and warm.  She’s got some waterproof boots and leggings too.  She donned her winter gear and begged me to take her out on the sled.  She needed a few extra pieces so I found some scrap yarn to wrap around her neck as a scarf and dug out her little pixie hat to keep her ears warm.  I think she’s ready to experience snow.

“Please, please, please…”, begged little Sugar.

Like all little ones, Sugar LOVED playing in the snow with her puppy!

Winter Snowflakes

Do you have any snowflakes yet?  We don’t have any real snowflakes in northern Illinois.  In fact it just got cold enough to produce snow, not rain.  I am sure it won’t be long now and we will be enjoying the quiet beauty of a winter wonderland.

To celebrate the start of winter Talyssa has a new ensemble to show you reminiscent of an icy paradise where she is the princess.  Her dress is made with a cotton print in violet-ish colored snowflakes.  Snowflake embroidery, crystals, pearls, a silver snowflake charm, a glittery ornament, muted shades of color (or no color) make Talyssa’s new outfit perfect to help welcome winter.

If you’d like to make some of your own (virtual paper) snowflakes you can make some online here. I love the sound affects as the snowflakes are being snipped.  Here’s the one I made.

Helping the Clauses

Well, no, not those Clauses!

It’s Gina’s Grandma and Grandpa.  They are dressing up as Santa and Mrs. Claus for Gina’s school Christmas bazaar and Gina gets to help pass out candy canes to all of Santa’s (Grandpa’s) little visitors.  Gina has the perfect outfit for her important job.  The dress is a print of pin dots in minty colors and her Santa hat and jacket are the all important finishing touch.  Gina even has her hair styled like Mrs. Claus (Grandma), without the grey, of course.

She is ready, don’t you think?
