Finally…It’s Looking Like Winter

December was a pretty painless month weather wise for us in northern Illinois.  The temperature stayed right around freezing, not very cold for us.  So, no weather excuses for not getting the Christmas shopping done.  Well, it’s a new year and new weather.  This morning we woke to a winter wonderland.  It’s still snowing mid morning with more coming tomorrow.  After that it will get very cold.  Winter is finally here!

Sugar (Fairyland Pukipuki) has never felt snow.  I know, it’s my fault.  She hasn’t had proper winter clothing.  However, last week I knit her a bulky wool sweater which will keep her nice and warm.  She’s got some waterproof boots and leggings too.  She donned her winter gear and begged me to take her out on the sled.  She needed a few extra pieces so I found some scrap yarn to wrap around her neck as a scarf and dug out her little pixie hat to keep her ears warm.  I think she’s ready to experience snow.

“Please, please, please…”, begged little Sugar.

Like all little ones, Sugar LOVED playing in the snow with her puppy!

Hi Marina, Thank you for continually sharing your sweet comments with me. They are so appreciated. I’ve lived in Illinois my entire life so snow and cold in winter is “normal” for me. Some day, though, I wouldn’t mind living somewhere a bit (or a lot) warmer in winter. Happy New Year to you, too, Marina!

Hi Carol, I am glad you enjoyed seeing our snowy day. We’re in for more snow and extreme cold which will be hard after our easy December. So nice to hear from you!

Are you sure you don’t want a bit of snow, Sharon? I can even send you some negative wind chill temps. They’re saying not to be surprised if we have a -50 wind chill on Wednesday. Oh, what fun!!! I am just kidding about the fun part. If spring started next week I would be quite happy. I am trying to make the best of this season called winter. The way time has been flying by it’ll be April before I know it.
