More Snow and More

Another Sunday, another snowstorm!  We are 11 days into December, and this is the second weekend in a row that we’ve had snow!  Maybe all the snow will get used up in December and then January and February will be dry!!!  ???  !!!

The snow really IS beautiful, and if no traveling is required, the snow gently falling makes for a cozy day inside.  Last night it was snowing too.  I watched Mary Poppins and did some knitting in front of the fireplace.  Anyone else love Mary Poppins?

I am working on a sweater coat for the Little Darlings.  I hope it works . . . not sure I’m adding the right amount of increases to get the shape right.  If not, I’ll try again.  I haven’t made the dress that will go underneath the sweater coat yet as I want to see what length of bodice will work best.

I am going to use this fabric.  It is a very subtle snowflake design; I have just enough left.  The dress below was for Talyssa from 2014.  I am using the same yarn; I love the color!

I don’t want to make anything else that is too Christmasy.  Snowflake patterns can be worn throughout the winter, so I’m making a few of those now.  Unfortunately, I have quite a few Christmas prints that I never got to use this year.  I am set for next year.  I WILL NOT buy any Christmas prints in 2017!  Ha ha!

This was the snow falling last night, so silent and bright!

Today, more is piling up.

I filled up the bird feeder before the snow started last night, and the birds are happy.  I loaded up the platform with peanuts; those always go first.  The blue jays love those.  I forgot to put suet in the suet feeder, so the woodpecker is settling for seeds.  Do you see the mourning dove in the tree?  I don’t blame him (her) for hanging back.  Those blue jays can be mean.

As soon as the big birds leave, the sparrows flock to the platform one by one.

And then, whoosh, something scares them (probably me) and they’re gone.

Lucy and I had a photo shoot today.  It was quick and painless, she’s great.  Here’s a sneak peek.

I hope you all are having (or had) a great Sunday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Bye for now!

Oh, one more photo . . . I got this fabric months ago . . . see, I’m still dreaming of flowers.

It’s so pretty!

Cozy and Warm Inside

Unlike the east coast, we are having a calm weekend.  It is cold outside, but not terribly so.

Friday, I spent the day finishing up all three of the Little Darling dresses I started on Thursday.  It took me well into the evening, but I was determined to get them finished.  They will go with the lilac and pink mohair, and the pink wool sweaters.  I still have to decide on a fabric for the white sweater.  Too many possibilities for that one.

I made a pot of tea (Orange Ginger Mint) on Saturday and got to work embroidering the lilac mohair sweater.  At first, the colors weren’t working out as I though they would, so I had to make some changes; I think I got them figured out.  Today I hope to get the left side of the sweater embroidered with a mirrored image of the right side, and maybe finish up the outfit.  We’ll see…

When I returned from my three weeks in Florida I found my begonias blooming and two of my orchids also in bloom.  My husband had also added a vase of tulips to the dining table.  I love to have flowers inside in the wintertime, don’t you?

Back in My Studio Again

After three weeks of not stepping foot inside of my studio, I am back this morning.  I talked about my absence here.  I’ve missed my space, and being surrounded with all of my supplies used for creating cute things.  When I opened the door to my studio for the first time this year, I felt all of the possibilities surrounding me, a sweet feeling.  I took a deep breath and thought how good it feels to be home.

So, in addition to being back in my studio, I am back in the cold and snow.  It’s okay, though, I enjoyed many nice winter walks in southern Florida.

We had quite a few cloudy and cool days in Florida.  This was one of the few “blue sky days”.

I included this preserve on my walking route.  Isn’t it pretty?

It looks wintery, but the temperature isn’t at all, it’s so mild.

While in Florida we had tornado warnings and watches… and no basement.  Most homes have basements in Illinois, so I felt a bit vulnerable not having anywhere but a closet or bathroom to take shelter in.

This little guy seemed tame and so cute!  I was sorry I didn’t have a couple of peanuts for him.

Okay, back to my studio.  I hope to get Gina’s sweater dress finished today!

Hope you enjoy your day no matter where you are, cold, hot, or inbetween.

Bye for now!
