Christmas Ensembles from Years Past

Last week I showed you my Christmas ensembles from 2014.  I was able to finish quite a few last year, but not as many as I would like to complete this year; after all they are the my favorite holiday themed ensembles to create.

So, last year wasn’t bad, but this is what happens when I don’t start early enough, plan ahead, have a goal, etc.  You get the picture.  These are from 2012 and 2013 with most being made for Amelia Thimble, so are tiny and much quicker to make.  I plan on doing much better this year!

Patience got her one and only (so far) fun Christmas set in 2013.

merry & bright 186 wmI made two Christmas ensembles for Kish Bethany in 2012.  This first one is more formal than the one my blonde Bethany is wearing.  I think that this was probably the first sweater I made out of the mohair/silk lace yarn that I use so much now.

flowers for holidays 596 wmThe green dress for Amelia was made to be a Christmas tree with tiny embroidered ornaments on it.  I even painstakingly embroidered tiny gold loops so that the ornaments could hang from the ribbon garland.  By the way, it is not fun at all to embroider with metallic thread.  I’ve never used it again, that is how much “fun” it is.

Bye for now, and thank you so much for reading along with me and looking at the Christmas photos of my past work.  No wonder Amelia Thimble is a spoiled little thing!

Oh, and enjoy the last official day of summer!!!

Still Trying to Get In the Christmas Spirit

It’s really hard to do… in September.  Geez, fall hasn’t even officially started yet!

I finished a Christmas outfit this week and it didn’t help to get me in the Christmas spirit… AT ALL.  It simply seems way too early to be looking at Gina all bundled up in a wool sweater and hat with fuzzy white trim and Christmas/winter motifs.  Yet, I know this is how early I must start to be able to complete LOTS of holiday outfits this year.  Hopefully, it will get easier as we get into fall and fall-like weather.

I confess that I had a bit of a setback yesterday when I got back to work on a fall sweater that was barely started when the Christmas bug set in early last week, so you may see another one or two fall ensembles.  I love the greyish plum, neutral pink, merlot, and ecru/ivory in this print and wanted to continue with the ensemble.

wip 09-21-15 121My pumpkin dress/hat sets are all on their way to dress “tinies” for the fall season.  Amelia Thimble, Izzy, Sugar, and I are all very happy that these sets are going to help make some little ones look oh, so cute for pumpkin patch picking!

Well, now I must get to work packing up outfits, printing out labels, and working on that fall outfit.  Oh, and I promised to make a pot of soup today, so that we don’t all starve.  Ha ha!

Everyone… have a great Monday!

Green and Red

After showing you my stack of Christmas fabrics in Monday’s post, I picked out two of them to start my holiday ensembles.  I picked out my favorites, so I would have the best possible chance of getting in the holiday spirit.  (I’ll share with you what those two favorites are soon.)  Yesterday and this morning were spent knitting a sweater and hat to go with the first fabric that I picked out.  So far so good…I’m making progress.  In the meantime, I went through my studio and snapped more photos of all things red and green.

Off the subject, but continuing with the green (and a bit of red) theme…

Did you know it’s National Guacamole Day?  I love avocados and try to eat a few every week.  However, the grocery store that we shop at was completely out of avocados last Friday.  This is a big grocery store with a huge produce department and they didn’t have one avocado for sale, very strange.  I wonder if they were being hoarded by someone in anticipation of National Guacamole Day.  Hmm…

To help tie these two very dissimilar subjects together, here’s the Grinch (Christmas) made out of guacamole (avocados)!  If you click on it, it will enlarge and take you to Pinterest where you can pin it, if you’d like.

guacamole-grinch-sandwich-731421Hope you’re enjoying Wednesday.  Summer is back here in northern Illinois and tomorrow will be even hotter.

Bye for now!
