“A Springtime Garden Stroll”

As soon as the gardens start blooming (or maybe yours already is blooming, lucky you) Gracie will be ready for a leisurely garden stroll with Theodora Bear to keep her company.

Gracie’s floral print dress is made from the same print, but in the warm colorway, as Lucy’s here. The roses on this print are in mauve-y shades and blush pink. The green is a lovely shade, and the background is a very light warm off white. There are tiny bits of straw colored blossoms which go nicely with the ecru English cotton Cluny lace used on the skirt.

I used two strands of baby alpaca/silk lace weight yarn to knit the sweater. The natural color and blush pink are very close in value, but still create a subtle marled effect. The sleeves are a true 3/4 length which I don’t think I’ve made before. Scattered rose bouquets and motifs are embroidered on the front of the sweater. It looks equally cute either buttoned or unbuttoned.

Theodora bear sits perfectly in Gracie’s wicker basket of blossoms. She has been embellished with a teeny tiny hand made bow and a “Made with Love” heart charm.

Gracie’s delicate headband has been crocheted with pink bamboo and tiny pearls, and is decorated with a hand made bow. The bow on the headband and the bow on the skirt visually line up with each other.

“Rosies and Lavender”

It’s super hard to get into spring-y feelings this morning. It snowed all night and a fine snow is still falling. However, we don’t have much snow on the ground, six inches or so. Six inches of snow is better than 24, so I’ll take it without complaining.

I have my smiling Little Darling, Lucy, here to help bring back some feelings of spring. She is wearing the most (one of them, anyway) beautiful floral prints in a unique color palette. Instead of green for the greenery, it is in medium grey. The background isn’t white, ivory, or ecru. It is the color of whipping cream! The roses are in cool rosy tones with muted violet blossoms. The blossoms, stems, and leaves make up bouquets scattered randomly on this Japanese cotton fabric.

Lucy’s dress has English cotton Cluny lace snugged underneath a skirt tuck. The waistline sash is in rosy colored satin ribbon.

Muted lavender works perfectly for the sweater. The elbow length wool cardigan has delicate lace panels down the center back, sleeves, and along the front edges. I’ve embroidered floral motifs in an asymmetrical composition amongst the lace panels.

Lucy wears a crocheted cap made out of white bamboo thread. It is decorated with a crocheted mohair/silk rose, satin bow, and glass leaf bead. What a pretty girl!

Lucy’s accessories include a bouquet, bracelet, and tights.

Penny is Popping in to Wish You…

Penny is popping in to wish you “Springtime Joy” . . . even though springtime feels miles away at the moment. We are getting our first snowstorm of 2017 tonight! It’s been a mighty strange winter around here.

So, for me at least, I need to pretend that spring is here, and Penny is helping with that. Here is Penny in her new ensemble with her baby bunny, Spring.

You can see what a caring and gentle pet mama Penny is to little Spring. They bonded immediately! Spring is another needle felted bunny made by me. She is made with wool roving, has red violet Delicate bead eyes (sewn on) and a pink embroidered nose.

Penny’s new spring ensemble features a floral cotton dress in cool shades of rose, blue violet, and grey and a background the color of whipping cream.

Her hand knit sweater is knit out of rosy colored mohair/silk lace yarn. Two different rose bouquet motifs are embroidered on the front. I picked the blue violet out of the print to highlight with a hair ribbon, waist sash, embroidery, and bracelet.
