New Year, New Pattern, New Ensemble!

By now it is 2017 everywhere in the world, so a Happy New Year to all!

My husband and I went for a brisk walk in one of the nearby forest preserves today.  The paths were a little treacherous in places, but we were careful and the sun felt so nice.  It was the perfect way to start 2017!

My Little Darling, Lucy, is also here with her bright, smiling face (and her itty bitty snow baby) to wish you all the happiest start to 2017!  Before most of our snow melted last week Lucy and I made this tiny snow baby. She is still trying to decide if this snow baby is a boy or girl, so she can give it an appropriate name.

While outside she told me that her new sweater coat, hat, and scarf kept her toasty warm.

Lucy is wearing a dress made out of my most favorite snowman print.  I LOVE this print!  It’s colorful and a little bit primitive looking.  There are “zillions” of snowmen lined up on this fabric; all looking equally cute, don’t you think?  Snowman lovers will find this print adorable.

I previously used this fabric in 2014 (“Snowman Luv”) to make an ensemble for Gina.  I decided to make it less Christmasy this time, so it could be worn more as a winter ensemble.

Isn’t this the cutest fabric!  I think they are the happiest little snowmen!

Lucy’s ensemble will be available Monday, January 2, 2017 at 7:00 pm CST on my website.

“My Little Snow Baby” is a one-of-a-kind ensemble, but if you’d like to knit your own sweater coat, the pattern is available on Ravelry.  The instructions include a step-by-step guide to add your own patch pockets.  Once you see how easy they are to make, you’ll be putting patch pockets on everything! (lol)

Thank you for visiting with me as we start this new year together.  Bye for now!

One, Two, New Patterns!

I’ve been hard at work the last two days trying to get these two designs into pattern form for all of you knitters.  And I did it!  I’ve completed them just in time so that you have something fun to do during your holiday downtime.

When all of the holiday work is done you can relax in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea or cocoa or coffee, a plate of cookies, and knit your Little Darling cute winter wear.  If your weather has been anything like ours she’ll need it.

You’ll find both of these patterns to be a quick knit, especially the headband earwarmer.  And if you have more than one Little Darling, you can make each of them a winter set.

The patterns are for sale on Ravelry.  Click on the “Shop Patterns” tab.

A New Knitting Pattern

A beret knitting pattern is now available for the Little Darlings!  The pattern will also fit other dolls who wear a size 7-8 wig such as Linda Macario’s Penny and Polly.

This beret is knit in the round on DPNs with fingering weight wool.  If you’re looking to learn how to knit on DPNs here’s a quick project for you.  While you’re learning something new, you can make something cute at the same time.  I include tips that helped me learn this technique.

It took me quite a few tries to finally get comfortable with DPNs, and now that I have, it’s one of my favorite ways of knitting.  There are three reasons for this:  no purling, no seams to sew up, and a nicer looking piece.  The hats especially benefit from being knit in the round.  I don’t like how the seam ruins the patterning of the decreases, and adds stiffness.

Out of all the YouTube videos this one was the one I watched again and again.  I remember watching it for the first time and thinking to myself, “no way was I ever going to be able to knit with all those needles”.  It seems very daunting at first, but once you get it you wonder why it seemed so hard.

Does your Little Darling need a new beret . . . or two . . . or three?  How about one in every color?

The beret pattern can be purchased on Ravelry.
