A Few Florida Photos for Fun, and a Reminder…

Happy Saturday to you all.  I wanted to share a few photos with you that I took while in Florida last week.  My parents have quite a few pink hibiscus growing around their house.  They are such a beautiful shade of pink and there were a few blossoms at their peak.  I snapped a photo of this blossom and caught a couple of bees at work.

The sun came out for the photo below, so the shadows are have sharper edges.

My mom, daughter, sisters, niece, and I love to feed the squirrels peanuts, so we have a couple of pretty tame ones that will come and sit on the stoop outside of my parents’ patio door.  They will sit up on their hind legs with their front paws curled in front of their snow white bellies and look in the window.  I named them Mr. Bushy Tail and Mr. Skinny Tail, although I think one is a she.

I often wondered where they slept as I saw no nests in the trees like our midwest squirrels sleep in.  One day my daughter and niece noticed a squirrel napping in the space that the old palm fronds created where they had grown from the trunk . It was adorable how it fit perfectly, a squirrel bed made by Mother Nature.

Isn’t it the cutest little thing!

Just to let you know, I won’t be sending out a post tonight at 7:00 pm, CST to remind you  about the three Amelia Thimble and Pukipuki sets that will be available for sale on my website, so set your timer if you want to remember.  Ha ha… (that’s what I would need to do, but I’m sure your memory is better than mine).  You can see a few photos of the sets here.

Thank you for reading along.  Bye for now!

The Past Seven (or so) Days

I’ve been hogging the limelight with new ensembles all week long, so here are some casual shots from the week that you might enjoy looking at.

As you can see, I am still in a pink mood.  Aren’t all of these pink rose prints lovely?  A couple are new and three of them were used last year, but I still have LOTS more to make more dresses with.  I like laying them out in a little collection for a few days.

The peach pink rose print pictured above is being made into a dress to go with this cardigan for Patience.

After my last couple of embroidery projects I was left with quite a mess.  It’s all cleaned up now, but I’ve begun a new mess. 😳

Here is Lucy’s dress in progress.  You are looking at the wrong side that’s why it is looking so washed out.  It is a lilac-y pink rose print.  Here is Lucy wearing the dress.  One of the mohair sweaters that I knit in January will be embroidered to go with this dress.

I needed a little bit of cheering up on this dreary Monday morning; Lucy did the trick.

Lucy borrowed the carrot red mohair wig from Penny and wears it quite well too.  I’m not sure who wears it better.  Below is a picture of Penny during our photo shoot for “Pretty in Purples”.

Bye for now!  Have a great week!

Back in My Studio Again

After three weeks of not stepping foot inside of my studio, I am back this morning.  I talked about my absence here.  I’ve missed my space, and being surrounded with all of my supplies used for creating cute things.  When I opened the door to my studio for the first time this year, I felt all of the possibilities surrounding me, a sweet feeling.  I took a deep breath and thought how good it feels to be home.

So, in addition to being back in my studio, I am back in the cold and snow.  It’s okay, though, I enjoyed many nice winter walks in southern Florida.

We had quite a few cloudy and cool days in Florida.  This was one of the few “blue sky days”.

I included this preserve on my walking route.  Isn’t it pretty?

It looks wintery, but the temperature isn’t at all, it’s so mild.

While in Florida we had tornado warnings and watches… and no basement.  Most homes have basements in Illinois, so I felt a bit vulnerable not having anywhere but a closet or bathroom to take shelter in.

This little guy seemed tame and so cute!  I was sorry I didn’t have a couple of peanuts for him.

Okay, back to my studio.  I hope to get Gina’s sweater dress finished today!

Hope you enjoy your day no matter where you are, cold, hot, or inbetween.

Bye for now!
