Oh, yes, it is!
Doesn’t spring seem like it will never, ever happen? This winter has felt exceptionally long to me. To you, too?
This morning the snow was coming down in such big flakes it looked like someone from above was tearing up Kleenex tissue and dropping it from the sky. After Mother Nature decided we had had enough snow she gave us some sleet. I admit It was kind of interesting listening to the sleet crackle as it hit the snow, but then I didn’t have to drive in it.
My poor little chihuahua did NOT like the feel of that sharp stuff on his delicate little legs. He looked so bewildered as he stepped in the snow and expected it to be soft as it always is. Poor guy.
The critters got busy filling up their little tummies this morning. We have at least two grey and three black squirrels that visit our feeder. One of the grey squirrels seems to be the bully of the bunch as he is always doing the chasing. I caught him chasing one of the black squirrels up a tree. (It was a lucky shot, these guys move so fast!)
And…here is the grey “bully” squirrel with the feeder all to himself while the birds patiently wait for their turn.
We get lots of cardinals here in northern Illinois. Their coloring looks so beautiful on these dreary days.
We’re supposed to have a record breaking cold spell this week too. Ugh! Hope you’re having nicer weather than we are.
Where are you spring?
Thank you very much for your beautiful photos. Cardinals are wonderful birds!
Spring comes slowly here, crocuses are blooming and tulips are already high, but it is still cool enough.
Have a good day!
Warm regards.
Hi Catherine. Your spring flowers must stay blooming for awhile then. They like cool weather. Some years we go from cold to hot much too quickly and the spring bulbs cannot put up with the heat. That is so disappointing as we’ve waited all winter for them to bloom. Yes, the cardinals sure add a bright spot to grey winter days. We are lucky to have so many of them here in Illinois. Enjoy your spring flowers.
Hi Cindy! To me all that show looks like a dream. Here in Perth, Western Australia, we are cooking! It is soooo hot. We have not seen rain in months so fires start really easy and hard to control. Come on winter I am melting!
Hi Lenora. It’s funny how we forget what winter feels like once it’s broiling hot, and vice versa. I wish I could send some of our cold air and snow your way. We sure have enough of it to go around. The weather change should start soon…let’s hope.
Great pictures! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Spring is here, in Portugal 🙂 We´ve got a beautiful and shinning sun today!
Have a good day too!
Oh, lucky you, Dorinda! I forgot what spring feels like. This year I will enjoy it much more than other years, I think. Enjoy your beautiful springtime!
This sunny Californian wishes she could knit your birdies some sweaters! How beautiful they are in your trees. I hope they are okay! Beautiful photos!
Hi Pennie. The birds are pretty used to the cold by now, but I am sure that they are looking forward to some warmer weather too. How fun to imagine the birds wearing hand knitted sweaters.
Thank you for your comments. So nice to hear from you, Pennie. 🙂
Hi Cindy,
I know we are both ready for Spring…so can you imagine HOW ready they must be in Massachusetts and places that have gotten 100 inches or more of snow?
I have never seen a black squirrel before…white ones, yes, but never a black one.
Your pictures are beautiful, even if the subject matter isn’t what we’d like.
My sister was going to visit but decided to wait a few weeks. Not much to do with all this on the ground.
Well hope you are finding time to snow…I mean Sew!
Blessings, Jeanne
I cannot even imagine the state of mind they must be in! Seems impossible to have that much snow, doesn’t it?
I had never seen black squirrels either until we moved into this house. We lived about 15 minutes south and only had grey squirrels there. Growing up (and closer to the city) we only had brown squirrels. I’ve never seen a white squirrel. That would be interesting. Squirrels (no matter the color) are cute to watch and provide amusement for us humans and canines.
I finished up an outfit yesterday, took photos, and updated sites. Today I did a bit of embroidery. Maybe tomorrow I will sew. (Liked your play on words, snow vs. sew)
Hi Cindy,
I love the photos of the cardinals and the squirrels. I hope your sewing brings a little warmth and brightness to your days! Your work is amazing!
Hi Heather and thank you! Yes, creating does help take my mind off of the cold weather outside. It’s been a LOOOONG winter and it’s not over yet.
