Another Little Sweater Dress…

I made Penny another little sweater dress.  This time it is in a yummy purple shade which reminds me of fuchsias and orchids.  It is a bright color, but not gaudy or garish.  This color is a medium dark shade, so the natural color of the wool probably tones it down.  Anyway, it is one of my Peruvian Highland wool pinks/purples that I am in love with, and it looks beautiful on Penny with her carrot red mohair wig.

I ended up trimming this wig down quite a bit, and it’s still long.  I love it on her now; it’s very soft, shiny, and luxurious feeling.  If you want to read about this wig in an older blog post, click here.  Isn’t she cute?  She’s waving hello to you.

For the embroidered bullion roses I chose paired shades of lavender, cool pink, and pink.  This color yarn looks beautiful with lilac and bluish violet.

“Pretty in Pastels” for Gina

I decided to dress Gina in my next pink pastel ensemble, Lucy had the honors wearing pink the last time.

The day I took the picture of this sweater was a beautifully sunny day and provided the most perfect backdrop of color.

I think this is the tiniest print I have ever seen.  I bought it in all four color ways.  This is my favorite and the first one that I’ve used so far.

“Pastel Sweetie” for Penny

My new Penny by Linda Macario has her very own mohair/silk cardigan…finally.  This sweater pattern took me four tries to get it just right.

I finished her little dress in December.  I thought that the dress pattern would take a few tries, but I got lucky.  Her fingers are spread open with skinny upper arms.  I was thinking big armholes to get those hands through… not so attractive.  I thought it would be a challenge, but like I said, I got lucky.

I also wanted the bodice short so as not to look long waisted as she has shorter legs (so, shorter skirt).  I think I got the proportions right.  She told me, “I feel pretty.”

I enjoy dressing a new doll.  I find the challenges of a new body style fun to conquer.  Penny probably has the most unique body to date in my collection, but she is precious.

As with most of my dolls lately, Penny has picked a few blossoms for her basket and to give to you.  What a sweetheart!

I made Penny’s little crocheted centifolia (cabbage) rose with a tie so she could wear it on her cap or in her hair.

And, once again, here is Penny in her other wigs.  If you missed the posts about her wigs they are here and here.
