Some Photos from my Studio

Hi all!  We just got back last night from our “vacation”.  I’ll write more about that later.  The rest of this post was written 10 days ago; I got too involved in life stuff to even post it.  So sorry to neglect you all.  Here it is.

Here are a few photos around my studio for you.

I redressed my Kish Tulah and Riley in my “old” crocheted dresses.  Look at Riley’s embroidery work.  I think I’ve improved since I made this one.  My bullion roses are quite crude compared to my roses now.  I guess practice makes “more” perfect (can’t say mine are perfect); it is nice to see where I started though.  However, to be fair, it is quite difficult to embroider on crocheted cotton.

Tulah was never my favorite of the little Kish crew, but I now find her face more captivating than Riley’s.  Isn’t she sweet!

Lilah, Ann Estelle’s little sister, is wearing another “old” piece of mine, a crocheted romper.  I remember that I had found (years ago) a little girls romper in a catalog that was made in fabric, and copied it in crochet.  Her little crocheted shoes are embellished with crocheted flowers too.  Lilah’s wooden rocking horse is from a stuffed bunny; it fits her perfectly.

I don’t know if I’ve ever shown you this doll I made from a free Black Apple pattern .  (I found a link for you from a Martha Stewart page in case you’d like to make one too.)  She’s been sittin’ around in my studio for years.

Not all hand dying projects work out.  I knit this dress for Sugar and then hand dyed it.  You can see how the dye is lighter on the front lower half.  I have no idea why this happened, but Sugar doesn’t seem to care; she knows it will be hers to keep, although the likelihood of it getting buttons and embroidery is nil.  Her bangle bracelet is from one of my daughter’s old camisoles.

My daughter made this banner with cute scrapbook paper and embellishments.  She didn’t know what to do with it, so I got it!  On top of the cabinet are empty jars from candles where I store small balls of yarn, scraps of yarn, and old spools/thimbles.  I keep props and cute things in the display case.  I’ll have to open it up and let you peek inside sometime.  🙂

Hope you all have a very nice day.  Bye for now!

The Past Seven (or so) Days

I’ve been hogging the limelight with new ensembles all week long, so here are some casual shots from the week that you might enjoy looking at.

As you can see, I am still in a pink mood.  Aren’t all of these pink rose prints lovely?  A couple are new and three of them were used last year, but I still have LOTS more to make more dresses with.  I like laying them out in a little collection for a few days.

The peach pink rose print pictured above is being made into a dress to go with this cardigan for Patience.

After my last couple of embroidery projects I was left with quite a mess.  It’s all cleaned up now, but I’ve begun a new mess. 😳

Here is Lucy’s dress in progress.  You are looking at the wrong side that’s why it is looking so washed out.  It is a lilac-y pink rose print.  Here is Lucy wearing the dress.  One of the mohair sweaters that I knit in January will be embroidered to go with this dress.

I needed a little bit of cheering up on this dreary Monday morning; Lucy did the trick.

Lucy borrowed the carrot red mohair wig from Penny and wears it quite well too.  I’m not sure who wears it better.  Below is a picture of Penny during our photo shoot for “Pretty in Purples”.

Bye for now!  Have a great week!

Back in My Studio Again

After three weeks of not stepping foot inside of my studio, I am back this morning.  I talked about my absence here.  I’ve missed my space, and being surrounded with all of my supplies used for creating cute things.  When I opened the door to my studio for the first time this year, I felt all of the possibilities surrounding me, a sweet feeling.  I took a deep breath and thought how good it feels to be home.

So, in addition to being back in my studio, I am back in the cold and snow.  It’s okay, though, I enjoyed many nice winter walks in southern Florida.

We had quite a few cloudy and cool days in Florida.  This was one of the few “blue sky days”.

I included this preserve on my walking route.  Isn’t it pretty?

It looks wintery, but the temperature isn’t at all, it’s so mild.

While in Florida we had tornado warnings and watches… and no basement.  Most homes have basements in Illinois, so I felt a bit vulnerable not having anywhere but a closet or bathroom to take shelter in.

This little guy seemed tame and so cute!  I was sorry I didn’t have a couple of peanuts for him.

Okay, back to my studio.  I hope to get Gina’s sweater dress finished today!

Hope you enjoy your day no matter where you are, cold, hot, or inbetween.

Bye for now!
