Are you ready for the first day of school? It’s not so far off for some, and others have a month or more of summer vacation left. The public schools in Chicago don’t start until the second week in September and here in the suburbs the kids go back middle to the end of August. My niece who lives in a southern state has one more week off. 😦
Personally, I cannot believe it is time to start thinking about school starting up again, but it is.
My Little Darling, Gina, is beginning to get ready and would like to show you her new school-ish looking ensemble.
Gina’s lace sweater is knit out of natural colored lace weight merino wool yarn and embroidered with mirrored image rose motifs to coordinate with the dress print.
Who can resist a beret for back to school? I embroidered this one with a blue rose and added a multi-looped hand tied red grosgrain bow. Très chic!
Isn’t this the cutest blue rose print? The colors of blue, red, and green on an ivory background seemed like the perfect back to school palette.

Adorable. And the chapeau is tres magnifique!
I love putting little hats on dolls. They always frame their faces so nicely. Thanks, Marina.
Dear Cindy, I have been a fan of your work for a short time now, but you have inspired me more than I can say. I only recently acquired a little darling and have begun to sew for her. Like you I am a perfectionist about my crafting. I take the rest of life more casually, thank goodness. Anyway I just wanted to tell you just how much I love and appreciate your hard work not to mention your ability to coordinate your outfits so beautifully.
Marian, What nice things to say! I so appreciate inspiring you and you letting me know that I do so has made my day. Thank you so much and enjoy creating for your new Little Darling. Aren’t they wonderful?
It’s hard to believe that school will soon be here! Gina looks very proud in her very cute outfit!
I know. The summer is going so fast and it doesn’t help when the kids go back in August. I am hoping for a warm fall this year.
