Hello to You!

Hi there! I hope you are well… and not too stressed if you’ve been in the midst of holiday preparations. It’s a busy time, that is for sure.

I am doing fine. I still have presents to wrap and some still to arrive in the mail, but my shopping is complete. We did a big grocery shop this morning, so the cupboards are far from bare, and all ready for holiday cooking and munching.

Today does not feel wintery and Christmasy at all. It is sunny and in the low 40s. Having grown up in Chicago (Illinois) suburban areas (and and still here) I am used to it being cold for Christmas and somewhat snowy too; many years it is also cloudy. Although I am hoping the sky stays clear as getting a glimpse of the Christmas star tonight is very intriguing to me.

I’ve been making YouTube vlog videos weekly since Advent started. I really enjoy catching clips of video throughout my day. The latest video is from last week. It includes some of what we’ve cooked, sewed, dolls getting dressed, pets looking cute 😉, walks in the neighborhood, and the start of ’12 days of holiday movies’ (something new we’ve begun as a family and are enjoying). Oh, I included (in the description box underneath this YouTube video on my youtube.com page) how to make a new snack–Super Simple Baked French Fries–they are DELICIOUS!!! and rival those fried potatoes at fast food places. For my daughter and I these French fries cure any French fry craving that might arise.

I am going to be making my 10″ Boneka Rose a new ensemble. I found seven fabrics that I like and cannot decide. Which do you like?

Number 1
Number 2
Number 3
Number 4
Number 5
Number 6
Number 7

Do you have a favorite? I cannot decide. Rose would probably look beautiful in any of them–she’s such a cutie. Her Little Darling sisters are looking forward to Rose joining them all dressed up in something new, so I want to get started soon.

My little Penny (by Linda Macario) has a dress in the works. She loved this girly bow print, so she helped me with the picking out of the fabric. Penny loves how the blue bows match her eyes.

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead. I plan to be back soon to share some holiday moments with you. Thank you so much for visiting with me today! Sending hugs 🤗 and ❤️!

Loved watching your vlog, Cindy! I had a hard time deciding what fabric to pick, but afterward watching you hold them all up to Rose, I picked the first one! It is so cheerful looking, and maybe a pretty, soft blue sweater to go with it? Of course, others might think differently, but the first one is my pick!

Thank you, Linda. I appreciate you watching my humble little videos. They are such fun to make. I like that sweet rosebud print too. Thanks for helping me decide. ❤️

Hi, Nanette. Did you make a capelet for your doll? I’d love to see it. I’m not sure if you can attach photos when commenting here. If so, please send. ❤️

Hi, Susan. These are from online sources–Fat Quarter Shop and Shabby Fabrics. Maybe fabric.com too. I can’t remember. I know I’ve had these for years. Lately whenever I look for fabric I can’t find this soft and romantic style of print anymore. Is it out of fashion? Bold and graphic seem to be the norm. You might be able to find older fabric lines on Etsy?

    Hi Cindy
As my family do not live close by I don’t have to worry about Christmas food shopping. Graham and I will be having lunch with his daughter and son-in-law.
But I have still decorated my home so I can have the festive feeling.
I have been busy knitting and sewing for Little Grace .
The bodice for the dress is done. I actually sewed it by hand last night while watching TV. Today I will work on the skirt. We have been getting drought breaking rain this past 24hrs. I received 110 mls and it is still raining. Hopefully we are getting it up in the mountains which will keep filling our dam. If so our water restrictions will ease a bit.
So all in all, life is great
Oh, by the way Cindy, I ordered my new Little Darling. I have about a one year wait and then Little Grace will have a sister.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and I hope that 2021 will be all you hope it to be.
    Wendy💐💖

Hi, Wendy. I am glad you decorated for yourself. That is important. I hope you enjoy your Christmas lunch with Graham’s daughter and son-in-law.
I am amazed at how you can sew a dress by hand. My seams would be all wonky. But it really does seem enjoyable and relaxing. That didn’t take you long to order another. You’ve been bitten by the Little Darling bug! Isn’t it fun?!
That is great that you are finally getting rain. You’ve had a very long dry spell, haven’t you? I hope you all get enough to ease those restrictions, so you can get back to normal.
Glad to hear you are doing well! 😃
Merry Christmas to you and yours too! 🎄

I will look forward to the vlog later as it is such a busy time for me today, but it looks very interesting. As to the fabric, they are all lovely tiny prints, but to my eyes, some are a bit overwhelming for Rose. I think the muted blues in the third print is best for her. Any of the flower colors would make a lovely sweater. And Mia is waving at Penny! She’s another of Linda Macario’s girls that recently arrived here. 🙂
Sounds like you have the holidays all under control. Here, not so much.

Hi, Joy. Sorry to hear your holiday prep is in a bit of a muddle. I know having little ones around makes things magical, but also stressful. I hope you can get things under control soon so that you can enjoy Christmas.
Thank you for your vote. I see what you mean by some of them being overwhelming for her. That soft blue is so sweet.
And Penny is waving back to Mia! 👋
Thank you in advance for watching my vlog! ❤️

Thank you for another lovely video. You live in a beautiful part of the country. It is mild here in Scotland. The seasons aren’t like they once were. I would love to see snow again. I like the second fabric but they are all lovely. Wishing you and your family a happy Christmas

I love all of the fabrics, but am drawn to #2 because it is different with the navy in it. I haven’t seen you make anything with navy.

Hi, Dee. That’s true–it’s a very under used color for me. I’ve made a few things that have featured navy, but very few. Thank you for your suggestion. 💙
