Rose is Hoping Spring Arrives Soon

Hello! I hope you are doing okay even though… well, you know. Things going on in the world are very sad right now. Every day I pray for peace… I keep in my heart all those who need comfort and courage right now. ❤️

I want to show you what I finished for Rose in February. Rose is a 10″ Boneka Monday’s Child doll sculpted by Dianna Effner.

Rose loves her new springtime ensemble. I chose a beautiful pink/lilac tiny floral print for her dress. The full skirt is edged with white cotton lace; a bright pink grosgrain ribbon ties around the waist. Her hand knit cardigan is knit with a lilac tonal hand dyed merino yarn. It is embroidered with random rose/floral motifs in coordinating colors. Her spring hat is crocheted with cotton and bamboo threads. The hat band is made with matching dress fabric and ribbon. In my stash I found Rose a white teddy bear and embellished the foot pads with embroidery, made a matching bow, and gave Theodora a lilac colored blossom.

Rose is very happy with her new ensemble, but a wee bit sad as we’ve had cold weather return again here in northern Illinois. (I know it’s early March but in my mind feels like it should be April!) She is wishing the warm weather from last week would return so that she can stroll through the gardens and see what is starting to grow. Who can blame her! I am ready for spring too!

I whispered in her ear that next week is looking to be warm again; that seemed to put a little smile on her face. For now Rose has a teddy bear to cuddle and stay warm with.

Here are my ‘lilac ladies’ all eagerly awaiting springtime: Rose, Alice, Sophie, Gina, and Lucy. The taller ladies are my Little Darlings. The little red haired girl is Ann Estelle’s friend Sophie (Tonner’s Mary Engelbreit dolls). And you know about Rose. The other ensembles were previously made for past spring times and are being worn with love once again.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope the remainder of your week goes well. Sending you hugs and ❤️! Take good care.

Rose Has Her First Ensemble for Her Wardrobe

Happy Sunday to you all! How are you? It is SO COLD!!! here in northern Illinois! Our wind chill right now is -20°F (-28°C). Is anyone else this cold, or colder? I am very thankful for my cozy and warm home. 🥰

I mentioned in my last post that I had completed Rose’s ensemble. She is so thrilled with how it turned out! After being neglected for so long Rose is one happy little girl, and has forgiven me. She’s such an angel.

Rose arrived in December of 2017. I made a couple of holiday ensembles that she happily modeled for other little girls to wear, then she went into hibernation. Until now that is! And this one she is keeping for herself. I hope to give her another very soon.

Rose’s dress is made with the fabric that you all voted on. Do you remember? Here is that blog post in case you missed it. This dress really does look sweet on her, and it’s extra special because you all helped with the creation of it. Even if you picked something else–that’s okay, too–you all helped! Thank you! Secretly, I liked all the fabric equally.

Rose is a 10″ Boneka vinyl doll who was sculpted by Dianna Effner. The good news is that these dolls are in stock and available at Happily Ever After, or at Boneka directly. You can change their wigs to give them a different look too. Rose is a Tuesday’s Child. I think they make cute little sisters to the Little Darlings.

Oh, I think I forgot to mention I published a new video on YouTube. It shows my progress on this ensemble and on Didi’s cardigan.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Stay warm… or cool, if you are south. Bye for now, my friends. 🤗💕

Hello to You!

Hi there! I hope you are well… and not too stressed if you’ve been in the midst of holiday preparations. It’s a busy time, that is for sure.

I am doing fine. I still have presents to wrap and some still to arrive in the mail, but my shopping is complete. We did a big grocery shop this morning, so the cupboards are far from bare, and all ready for holiday cooking and munching.

Today does not feel wintery and Christmasy at all. It is sunny and in the low 40s. Having grown up in Chicago (Illinois) suburban areas (and and still here) I am used to it being cold for Christmas and somewhat snowy too; many years it is also cloudy. Although I am hoping the sky stays clear as getting a glimpse of the Christmas star tonight is very intriguing to me.

I’ve been making YouTube vlog videos weekly since Advent started. I really enjoy catching clips of video throughout my day. The latest video is from last week. It includes some of what we’ve cooked, sewed, dolls getting dressed, pets looking cute 😉, walks in the neighborhood, and the start of ’12 days of holiday movies’ (something new we’ve begun as a family and are enjoying). Oh, I included (in the description box underneath this YouTube video on my youtube.com page) how to make a new snack–Super Simple Baked French Fries–they are DELICIOUS!!! and rival those fried potatoes at fast food places. For my daughter and I these French fries cure any French fry craving that might arise.

I am going to be making my 10″ Boneka Rose a new ensemble. I found seven fabrics that I like and cannot decide. Which do you like?

Number 1
Number 2
Number 3
Number 4
Number 5
Number 6
Number 7

Do you have a favorite? I cannot decide. Rose would probably look beautiful in any of them–she’s such a cutie. Her Little Darling sisters are looking forward to Rose joining them all dressed up in something new, so I want to get started soon.

My little Penny (by Linda Macario) has a dress in the works. She loved this girly bow print, so she helped me with the picking out of the fabric. Penny loves how the blue bows match her eyes.

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead. I plan to be back soon to share some holiday moments with you. Thank you so much for visiting with me today! Sending hugs 🤗 and ❤️!
