The television meteorologists were all wrong! We were supposed to get up to 7″ of snow, and instead we got about 12″—and it’s still coming down, heavier than ever! This is a February snowstorm, wet and heavy. Luckily we were able to cancel our plans and call it a “snow day”, so a stay-at-home day for us.

The birds get so hungry during a snowstorm. Luckily the bird feeder is full of sunflower seeds.
The magnolia tree is loaded with snow.
The red crab apples are barely noticeable now.
I think we’ve gotten a few more inches in the time it took me to write this blog post. Geez, we still have another month of autumn!

Oh my goodness, Cindy! You are getting a heavy snowfall and our tiny bit that fell the other night, is melting. But your trees do, look pretty. As long as the heavy snow, does not break any trees, though. Thanks for the photos. I really enjoy looking at them!
Oh, yes, we got lucky! ha ha It is pretty and won’t melt tonight at 12 degrees. How can we go from 60 to 12 in less than a week? Our lilacs were really bending over, so I went out in the knee deep snow to brush them off. We can’t lose those.
Oh Cindy, I also wanted to ask you, if that is a red Cardinal, in the tree, next to the bird feeder?
I love Cardinals. We do not have that bird here where I live. They have them in Eastern Canada. Thank-you.
Yes, the red birds are the male cardinals; the females are a muddy color, but are noticeable with their orange beaks. We have lots of cardinals in Illinois; they’re our state bird. They’re so pretty with the white snow.
All that snow gives me cold!
It snowed a little here, but just a few centimeters that have already melted.

I love seeing the snow fall when I am not obliged to go to work and utilize my car!
I had an accident on snow 20 years ago and since then I am very afraid when the roads are snowy!

It is very cold here. Tonight it will get down to 12℉ (-11℃). I don’t like driving in the snow either, so slippery. I drive quite slow on the icy roads when I have to go out. I’m glad you enjoyed my pictures. Thanks, Catherine.

Thank you, Michal. Yes, I always crave hot chocolate when it snows. I have the fireplace going and am trying to warm up, it is quite chilly and we’re not used to it.
Whoa, break out the snow shoes!! How fun to see all of that lovely white stuff. Do you cross country ski? Looks like so much fun. Your photos are amazing. My favorite, the birdies of course. So what happened to the green lawn? Just kidding.

No, I have never went cross country skiing. It’s not a big thing here. I used to walk daily even in the slushy streets. Now I prefer exercising indoors when it’s so cold as my toes don’t freeze. They would start to turn black, so I thought maybe it’s not such a good idea. I couldn’t find any walking shoes with insulation in them.
The lawn is probably still green way underneath all of that icy white stuff. I’m hoping it warms up next week. It really is too early to stay like this. Thanks, Joy.

Wow…what a difference a few days makes! It looks pretty and I’m sure it’s fun today, but what about tomorrow and the next day and then all the slushy stuff. I’m not ready for it myself. We have a chance of it here tonight… it’s 38 degrees right now, but the wind chill factor makes it feel 22 degrees. My poor hubby is loading and unloading things for the Thanksgiving Dinner tonight!
How much land do you own Cindy…are all those big pine trees on your property? They are beautiful covered with the snow…and your sweet Cardinals are patiently waiting their turn at the bird feeder! The birds are at our feeder too and Reuben has just discovered them. When one flies away he barks! It’s gonna be a LONG winter if he keeps this up…

Ugh! Don’t remind me, Jeanne! It had better warm up next week; I am counting on it. It’s supposed to get down to 12 degrees tonight, so no melting tonight.
We have almost an acre here. It’s nice, but a lot to keep up with, lots of trees to trim etc. Yes, those are our only three pine trees. Your Reuben is funny. I’m sure he’ll get used to the birds and stop the barking. You haven’t heard obnoxious barking until you hear our chihuahua! He’s a typical yappy little guy, but we love him.

Oh my goodness, what a lot of SNOW!! I know it looks beautiful, and makes for gorgeous photos, but I do not envy you that lot. We are still walking around during the day in short sleeves and sandals, adding a cardigan if we go out after sunset…..I cannot imagine these days how COLD that snow must be!
