Good Morning!

Good morning and Happy Sunday, friends!  I was up to see the first light of the day this morning.  Although with these shorter days one doesn’t need to get up very early to see the first light of the day.  I took this a little after 6am.  I love being up before it is light, do you?

Yesterday morning, however, I was up a bit later, and instead of the first light I caught the sun welcoming the day.  It was a very frosty morning.  The landscape looked as though sugar had been sprinkled upon it.

When we start getting snow I start filling the bird feeder.  This is the second fill which is almost gone.  Hmm, maybe the squirrels could answer that question.

2019 fall squirrel feeder 0902I have finally finished up this blue sweater dress ensemble.  I would like Gina to model it, but she is wearing another that needs photographing, so that will have to wait a bit.

Here are my three girls in the other sweater dress ensembles I’ve recently made.  Don’t they look festive and warm?

A couple of weeks ago, and while we had snow on the ground, I visited the Chicago Botanic Gardens.  They were very busy setting up for Lightscape, so some places were roped off.  I walked around the Dwarf Conifer Garden which is the perfect place when there is snow on the ground.  It feels so very Christmasy.

I also visited the greenhouses.  I wanted to ‘feel summer’ again, and I did.  The warmth and humidity in the tropical greenhouse felt so nice.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my U.S. readers!  Wishing you safe travels if you are traveling.

Mother’s Day Bouquets for You from Us

Hello, my friends.  Tomorrow is Mother’s Day in the U.S.  It is a day for pampering our moms and those who care for us.  Even if you don’t celebrate this day take a moment to receive some flower bouquets from my sweet girls.  They’ll pamper you just because…

Patience (from Tonner/Wilde Imagination) has picked a little bouquet of bright pink and ivory blossoms.  She’s tied them all together with an even brighter pink ribbon.  Patience is wearing an ensemble from 2017 called “Happiness in Pink”.  Her hot pink mohair cardigan is knit with my Classic Cardigan for Patience.  (The pattern can be found here  and purchased on Ravelry.)

Patsy has picked a bouquet of pure white long stemmed blossoms for you.  She’s tied the stems together with streamers of warm pink ribbon.  How sweet she is!  Patsy is wearing an ensemble from 2017 titled “Blossom for my Love-ly”.  Her mohair cardigan has also been knit with my Patsy knitting pattern.  More information about the Light Cardigan for Patsy can be found here and purchased on Ravelry.

My Little Darling, Lucy, (#3 sculpt painted by Helen Skinner) has picked a pink rose with ivory blossoms and tied them all together with a lilac ribbon for you.  Lucy is wearing a summery sweater dress from 2016.  The ensemble is titled “My Favorite Roses” , more photos and info. can be found by clicking the title.  Unfortunately, I don’t have a pattern for this one.  The sweater dress pattern I have for these girls uses a slightly heavier weight yarn.

Next, is my Little Darling, Gina who is the #1sculpt and painted by Geri Uribe.  Gina has found spring daisies and arranged them in a cute sprinkling can for you.  Gina tied a warm pink bow around the blossoms.  “Daisy Chain” is from 2016; more photos and information can be found here.  Her mohair cardigan is knit with my Light Cardigan pattern using the short sleeves and long version instructions.  This pattern has 3 sleeve lengths and 3 body length versions (all can be mixed and matched for 9 total possibilities).  The pattern can be purchased on Ravelry.

Gracie (Kaye Wiggs MSD sized BJD) has really gone all out!  She’s put together a basket of mauve roses, pink blossoms, and a little teddy bear holding a “made with love” charm.  Tied on the handle is a pink bow.  Gracie’s ensemble is from 2017 and titled “A Springtime Garden Stroll”.  Her cardigan was knit with my pattern for her.  More information on the pattern can be found here and purchased on Ravelry.

Lucy is my Little Darling (#1 sculpt) painted by Nelly Valentino.  She has picked a full bouquet of ivory and peachy pink blossoms for you.  Tied around the stems is a bow with beaded ends.  Her ensemble is from 2017 and titled “Princess in Peach”.  Her cardigan pattern hasn’t been published as shown.  I think I may have used the Lace Cardigan pattern using only the lace panel for the sleeves and made it one repeat shorter, but I cannot remember for sure.  Also, the Aunt Lydia’s #10 bamboo thread (discontinued by Red Heart) knits up as wide as fingering, but with a different row gauge, so you get a shorter sweater. I’m not sure if I re-spaced the buttonholes for a shorter sweater.

Here is Penny (Linda Macario BJD).  Penny has picked a tiny bouquet of ivory blossoms, tied them together with pink satin ribbon, and added a pink heart because she loves you.  Penny wears a sweater dress ensemble from 2016.  It is titled “Pastels in the Garden”.  This is another style I haven’t published, but I love sweater dresses on Penny.  BTW, I do have one pattern for Penny, Polly, and Patty.  It is a Classic Cardigan and can be found using the link and purchased on Ravelry.

Last, by not least, is Millie (11″ Kaye Wiggs BJD).  Millie has picked a lush bouquet of light pink and ivory blossoms.  She’s tied the stems together with a bit of beautiful lace and pink ribbon just for you.  Millie wears an ensemble from 2016 titled “Cutie in the Garden”.  For more photos and information about her ensemble click the link.

I hope you all are enjoying the weekend.  For those moms who celebrate Mother’s Day–Happy Mother’s Day to you! ❤

Hello!

Hello from soggy northern Illinois!  How are you?  I hope your week is moving along nicely.  I am keeping busy with a few different projects.

Over the weekend I finished my cozy and snuggly Bobble Cowl.  The pattern is by Joji Locatelli and can be purchased on Ravelry.  It uses one skein on sock yarn.  I used Knit Picks Preciosa which I hand dyed.

I added three extra pattern repeats to get my cowl as long as possible.  That tiny ball of yarn is all that’s remaining.  I used a scale to make it easier to predict how many more repeats I could add—I added three.  Still, I was wondering if I’d have enough to finish the last one.

Previously, I’ve shown you the shoeboxes (2016 and 2017) I put together for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child program.  Last year, I stumbled upon this video of Eva whom I haven’t been able to forget.  She is 100 (now 101) and sews dresses for the little girls who receive her shoeboxes.  I think she is amazing!  Eva has inspired me to make some dresses of my own for my shoeboxes for 2018.

I found some patterns and measurements on Pinterest and set to work on Saturday to make my first dress.  It took awhile—I hadn’t sewn any human clothing since my daughter was quite small, but everything slowly came back to me.  I used to make practically all my own clothes, so I guess it’s like riding a bike.

This dress was made with lots of love for the little girl who will wear it.  I hope she likes it and can find lots of little treasures to put in the pocket.

This morning I made a pattern so that the future dresses I make can be cut out without measuring each one; that was quite time consuming.

My Little Darlings, Lucy and Alice couldn’t let me write a blog post without saying hello.  They’re hanging out in the studio and having a fun day playing together.  Alice is waiting for me to finish her ensemble so she can put on her shoes and be ready for a proper photo shoot.

This morning, I made some time for puppy cuddles and making granola.

Right now I have a load of laundry in the washing machine and I’m going to slip out between the rain clouds for a walk.  I think I can do it; for now it’s 51° (11°)—springtime temps!

Enjoy your day, my friends! ❤
