I worked diligently on Patience’s Christmas outfit yesterday and only have to make the tights before it is ready for photo taking. Yay! Next, is a Christmas outfit for Patsy. (See, she is getting some attention!) I think after that I will make something for Amelia Thimble. Sorry, no doll photos today.
Last Friday was my anniversary. I woke up to this bouquet of roses from my husband. There were 5 or 6 different fall-ish colors and types in the vase, so pretty, and they smelled wonderful all day while I worked. My husband and I enjoyed dinner together. We had sweet potato chili and cornbread. The chili was cooking in the slow cooker all day, so the house smelled yummy. I put a little cinnamon in my chili, just half a teaspoon, but it sure makes the house smell nice.
We had our first frosts yesterday morning and this morning. This morning’s frost seemed heavier than yesterday’s. The icy grass looks so white, like snow, and it is sooo cold. I guess it is time for cold weather since October is more than half over already.
As for the melons, these tiny ones got hit with frost. I did pick the two largest last week, one was a cantaloupe and the other was a honeydew. (They were seedlings that sprouted from store bought fruit in our compost pile.) The fruit was ripe, but quite flavorless and almost bitter. My brown thumb lives on!

Cindy, your photos are wonderful! The colors of the roses are so pretty! Sweet potato chili and cornbread, yummy! Jack Frost has not come too much around here, yet. It was 20 degrees C here yesterday and was very sunny and warm. Today, another warm, sunny day.
Your frost bitten leaves look like they are sugar coated and look pretty, too.

Thank you. I hope Jack Frost stays away from you and you can continue to enjoy weeks of sunny and warm weather. What makes me the saddest about his visit is that he kills all of the flowers. What a meanie! lol

Well, at least your melons were pretty to watch on the vine. Sometimes, those coming from random seed may not be the same as the parent. Next year try come seed from a named variety, and I bet you will have good luck.
And I’m making turkey chili today. Always with cornbread and I think we need some gingerbread here too. Must be fall even though it has been in the 80’s.

Thank you for the anniversary wishes, Jeanne. I don’t know where the years are going, but they are adding up pretty quickly. I still feel like our wedding day was a few years ago, although once I look in the mirror it is obvious it wasn’t. LOL
Next time I make the chili I will take a photo and write the recipe down. Like everything I make it is changed from the original. I cannot follow a pattern or a recipe if my life depended on it; I always need to add or take away something.

Hi Judi and thank you for the anniversary wishes. I tried bearded irises once, but they didn’t come back the following year. You are doing great if you can grow those. They sure are beautiful with all of their different color combinations.
